Microsoft adds Google calendar and contact support to Outlook for Mac for Fast ring Insiders

Microsoft announced today that it will finally bring support for syncing contacts and calendars from Google accounts to Outlook 2016 for Mac. The feature will roll out to Fast ring Insiders first, and will come to the Slow ring and then Production later.

The last major feature that Office Insiders got on Mac was Touch Bar support in February, but at the time, Microsoft said that it would come to Outlook users later.

Outlook for Mac has obviously supported syncing Gmail for some time, and Microsoft says that the experience will be similar to what you expect from Outlook, including the ability to add, delete, and edit times and locations. Naturally, all changes will be synced back to your Google account.

You'll also get Focused Inbox, a feature that will sort your email into 'Focused' and 'Other' folders automatically. The feature has been available on mobile devices for some time.

Indeed, today's announcement was largely about bringing the best of what Outlook has to offer to those that prefer to use a Google account. To check for updates, go to Help -> Check for Updates; you can also enroll as an Insider from this menu.
