Microsoft adds new calling features to Teams for Android

Although Microsoft Teams is arguably Slack’s primary contender in the workspace collaboration segment, the chat application still demands plenty of fine-tuning to put it on par with the latter and other enterprise collaboration tools.

Thankfully, Microsoft has been consistently incorporating a series of new features and performance improvements to Teams. More specifically, the Android version of the chat and online meetings service has received a new set of call-related capabilities. The latest update bumps up Microsoft Teams for Android to version 1416/1.0.0.2018091302.

The change log includes the following:

  • Start a new 1:1 or group call from the Calls tab
  • Consult with the recipient before transferring a call
  • Leave or mute a meeting chat using the new meeting details page
  • Participate in Q&A during Live events
  • Schedule private meetings
  • Preview more file types

These changes come as part of Microsoft’s efforts to further enhance Teams in order to keep up with the competition. Earlier last year, Microsoft Teams for Android also received support for immersive video calls and application management through Microsoft Intune on top of improvements to the performance and accessibility aspects.

If you wish to get your hands on the newest features of Microsoft Teams for Android right now, you can visit its listing on the Google Play Store and download the latest version of the app.
