Microsoft sells 960K Xbox 360s in one week, loves Black Friday

Even though the Xbox 360 is now going into its seventh year, Microsoft managed to sell 960,000 units during the week of Black Friday. The important figure is that they sold 960K units, not shipped, which means that this is the biggest one week of sales ever for the platform; Microsoft also sold 750K Kinects as well, this includes bundled and stand alone products. Microsoft also said that they moved 800,000 of the units in a single 24 hour period.

The Xbox 360 is about to receive an update on December 6 that will not only bring a new UI but also more features to the platform. By adding nearly a million new users, Microsoft is solidifying its place atop the US sales chart with 11 months straight leading the pack. Microsoft fully expects that at the end of the year, the Xbox 360 will remain the number one console in the US.

This news reiterates that the Xbox platform is still a viable option and that consumers are not waiting for the next generation of consoles to arrive. Even as the Xbox 360 grows old, it still has a few tricks up its sleeve and it's obvious that consumers are still lusting for the platform.
