New Lumia Camera app will indeed come to all Windows 10 devices

While many of us are still waiting for the Lumia Denim update, some are already enjoying its features including the brand new Lumia Camera app. Luckily Microsoft has confirmed that the impressive new app will be part of Windows 10 on all devices.

The rumor that the speedy new app might make its way to other devices soon came about a few days ago when images seemed to show Lumia Camera running on a Samsung ATIV S. At the time we speculated that the app may be ready to jump ship to other non-Lumia devices as well.

Well at its event last night Microsoft confirmed that this is indeed the case and that the Lumia Camera 5.0 app will form the basis for the imaging app on all versions of Windows 10. This means that whichever phone you’ll be using, or tablet, or even desktop PC you’ll have access to the features of this app.

Of course that’s not to say Lumia users are left out in the cold. The app will indeed be universal but special features dependent on hardware, such as 4K recording or Pureview quality images, will only be available on Lumia devices.

The Lumia Camera app is expected to ship with the first preview of Windows 10 for phones and small tablets, sometime in February.
