No Man's Sky developer announces new game: The Last Campfire

Hello Games, the developer behind No Man's Sky, today announced its new title: The Last Campfire. A release date isn't known yet but the game will be coming to PC via Steam next year.

Hello Games, the developer behind the infamous No Man’s Sky, announced its new game at The Game Awards today. The Last Campfire is a “Hello Games Short,” per Sean Murray, the studio’s director.

Its short trailer, seen above, leaves much to be interpreted by the viewer; it’s not clear what the game is about or what its gameplay will be like, but it certainly looks interesting – much like No Man’s Sky did with its original announcement.

A release date is unknown at the moment, but here’s how Hello Games describes the game:

The Last Campfire is an adventure, a story of a lost Ember trapped in a puzzling place, searching for meaning and a way home. Together you will discover a beautiful wilderness filled with lost folk, strange creatures, and mysterious ruins.

The Last Campfire will certainly be coming to the PC, as it has a Steam page, but details about what – if any – other platforms it will come for remain unknown, for the moment. A release is expected for 2019, though, so the game isn’t too far away.
