RedMagic announces new variant of the RedMagic 5G with 12GB of RAM

RedMagic has announced a new variant of its latest flagship, the RedMagic 5G. This new variant packs 12GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and is only available in the Eclipse Black color. This is the first time the company is offering its smartphones in this configuration of storage and RAM.

Typically, there have been three colors and two storage and RAM configurations for RedMagic phones. Two of the color options come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while a third color option gets 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. That's what we've seen with the RedMagic 3, RedMagic 3S, and - until now - the RedMagic 5G. This is the first of those smartphones to feature a midway configuration, and it comes in the same Eclipse Black that's also available with 8GB of RAM.

Aside from storage and RAM, the RedMagic 5G has a lot to offer for those looking for performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G is actively cooled by a new fan system, offering better sustained performance, and it's the only smartphone currently available with a 144Hz refresh rate display. In our review of the 8GB model, we found that while the hardware is fantastic, some software issues hold the phone back from a wholehearted recommendation.

If you're interested in this new model, it's available to order in most global markets starting today, costing $599/€599/£559. In North America, you'll need to wait until June 22 to be able to order it.
