Rocket League gets cross-platform parties on February 19

Psyonix became only the second studio to implement full cross-platform play onto a game back in January, offering Rocket League players on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch the opportunity to matchmake with each other without any restrictions. And today, the company announced that the much-awaited cross-platform party system is incoming later this month.

Dubbed the Friends Update, Psyonix is implementing a new friends list that will let players from any platform party up together before matchmaking. Every player will now be assigned a unique and customizable RocketID which they can use to find and add friends from other platforms. In addition to a handy notification area, this new friends list will also have a recently met players tab for easily finding old teammates.

The update will also give players the freedom to jump into Dropshot, Hoops, Snow Day, and Rumble special modes in Free Play, giving them an easier way to practice. How many Weekly Wins are left for players will also be made more visible following the update, which will show up on the XP screen after each round.

The Rocket League Friends Update is slated to land on February 19 at 10:00am PST / 6:00pm UTC across all platforms, which is also when Psyonix will be sharing its full changelog.
