Snapchat could be planning to bring audio and video calling, stickers and more

Snapchat has long been seen as an app that has catered towards a younger audience. With an intent to grow its user base, it was only a matter of time before its list of features would start encroaching on some of the major components offered by its competitors. It looks like newly uncovered code has unearthed new functionality that could be coming to the platform sometime in the future.

Some folks over at XDA Developers have unearthed possible upcoming features in the existing code from the Android version of the app. With a little work, they were able to get the unreleased features working, but only for a couple of minutes. During their time with the app, they found that there might be a new chat interface arriving dubbed "ChatV2", which includes support for stickers and new audio / video calling features.

While these changes may or may not come, it is clear that Snapchat is in some way experimenting with additional means of communication and possible monetization of its app. Some of the newly-discovered features come very close to those available in the likes of Skype, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
