Sonos announces ad-free version of its streaming radio service

Sonos has launched a paid version of its streaming radio service that was unveiled in April. The new offering, called Sonos Radio HD, allows you to stream select stations in lossless, high-definition CD quality for $7.99 or £7.99 per month.

Like its ad-supported version, Sonos Radio HD offers a vast library of genre-based stations, live radio, and artist-curated stations along with more exclusive content via the Sonos S2 app. You can also skip and replay songs. In addition, all of the stations that have been originally introduced with Sonos Radio are now ad-free on Sonos Radio HD.

On top of its expanded library of original music stations, Sonos has introduced "sleep sounds" to its paid radio streaming service. It's basically a mix of six stations including white noise, pink noise, brown noise, rain, rainforest, and piano that are all meant to help you get a "better night's sleep".

Sonos also brings more artist participation with yet additional curated stations featuring exclusive interviews, starting with Dolly Parton’s Songteller Radio. Early next year, the company will introduce five new Sonos Radio HD artist-curated stations.

Lastly, the firm is also expanding the availability of Sonos Radio to five new countries. They include Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, and Belgium. The paid tier is available from today via sonos.com in the U.S. and UK, with a free, one month trial.
