Sony announces wider availability of its Android 5.0 Lollipop update

Sony has begun rolling out its Lollipop update to even more devices, including the Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z3 Dual, among others - and its global rollout will expand to more phones and tablets next week.

Last week, Sony announced the rollout of its Android 5.0 update for the Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet, and said that more devices would soon follow. As promised, the company is now expanding availability of the update to more devices in its range.

From today, the Lollipop update will begin to roll out worldwide to the Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. Next in line will be the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 (including dual SIM variants of both), which will get the update from next week.

Sony says that, "starting in a few weeks time", it will release Lollipop for these other Z Series devices: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z.

As always, the company has advised that "timing and availability may vary by market and/or carrier" - so even though the rollout has begun to some of these tablets and phones, it may be a while before it's available for your device specifically.
