Facebook launches an updated Friends tab in the U.S. and Canada, creating a dedicated feed for content from friends only, excluding algorithmic suggestions.

Meta announced that it will close the News tab for Facebook in the US and Australia in early April 2024, after previously closing down the tab in a number of European countries in 2023.
Facebook is trying to fix fake news in India with fact checking on its platform. The firm will penalise posts found to contain fake news, and demonetize pages which constantly share hoaxes.
