Maybe I'm mistaken ( I 'm too lazy too check the KB numbers), but weren't those packs released a while ago ?

update : /me just checked ... And it seems that I'm so wrong ! :D gotta update my laptop then.

Shipping fixes while SP1 is in Beta.... Why do I think it's time wasted on MS part? Stop working on fixes and work harder on SP1!!!

SP1 wont be here until early next year, so it make sense to release some updates now, it's no like they have 5 employees! :D

Thanks for the heads up :D

Edit: It only shows one update for me when I checked WU, which is

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-042 - Critical

Vulnerability in Microsoft XML Core Services Could Allow Remote Code Execution (936227)

ok, well that wasn't so bad. I rebooted and let it boot up again and i'm not sure if it was faster but it wasn't bad either.

Running on batteries and i'm not sure if that makes a difference with bootup time or not. Next time i'll use a stop watch with it plugged in and not plugged in to see. I'm not sure if i see an improvement in battery usage either.

I dont get any with WU, just a definition update for Windows Defender, should they appear in WU or do we have to download them manually?

I was getting ie issues too.. sometimes ie just keeps crashing..

Do you have IE7Pro installed? The latest version version keeps crashing IE btw. Get the old version 0.9.7 and it won't.

I installed all of these and could no longer boot. :( Had to do a system restore. When it came to the boot screen the progress bar would move really slowly but I left it for 30~mins and no luck. :(

Daniel

Same here, made me worry for a while. I was hoping to see improvements in boot times but apparently it got a lot longer (infinite)... Hopefully this will be fixed before it's being spread via WU automatically.

    • Depends on what you need. Might be a bit clearer on what you plan to do with it. Sort of a waste if you get the newest and greatest, but don't know how to use it.

    • Ah. La Fontana De Incontinentia ! Bella ! Bella !
    • Hi everyone, I'm planning a small network upgrade and was wondering how others prepare their networks for future needs. Do you usually invest in higher-speed switches and better cabling from the start, or do you upgrade only when necessary? I'd be interested in hearing what has worked well for you and any lessons you've learned over time. Thanks!
