dL Share Posted October 4, 2007 The update configuration took forever so I forcefully rebooted and then the loading bar was so slow at starting up and nothing seemed to work. I had to insert my disc to do system restore and now it's fixed. I guess I have to wait till Windows Update finishes configuring completely... Lesson learned. dL

ManMountain Share Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Updated x64 Vista without any problems. Haven't noticed any improvements, then again there's none to be had, Vista already performs very well. Still, always nice to keep up to date :) Edited October 4, 2007 by ManMountain

Danrarbc Share Posted October 4, 2007 The first update causes my system to stall on boot (even safe mode). At first I applied all four but was able to system restore, then started installing one by one and it stalled with just the first.

majortom1981 Share Posted October 4, 2007 I suggest for the people who are having problems with these to install each one individually. Meaning install one, reboot, then install the next one and reboot.
BryanChung Share Posted October 4, 2007 i installed all 3 at one shot without rebooting each time. i have uninstalled Daemon Tool before installing. reinstalled back Daemon Tool after installing. all system go! :)
Robinair Share Posted October 4, 2007 I can't install any of the updates. I can download them since I use genuine software :D , but when the installer starts, suddenly I get the message failed, that's all... Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I use the Dutch version of Home Premium? Though I think that is strange, because I can select the Dutch documentation at the download page. There's no sign of an english-restricted version...?
Tantawi Author Share Posted October 4, 2007 ^ Reboot your system and then try to reinstall. Welcome to Neowin (Y).
Robinair Share Posted October 4, 2007 Thank you Tantawi! I'm indeed new here. This seems like a nice forum, so I registered. :) I already tried to reboot, but I still get the 'failed' message when trying to install.
Roger H. Veteran Share Posted October 4, 2007 failed and what else does it say? Are you downloading the x86 or the x64 version but applying it to the wrong type of machine?
DaViD_BRaNDoN Share Posted October 4, 2007 Gee... I'm torn in between go or no go on these patches for my notebook running Vista Home Premium...

DaViD_BRaNDoN Share Posted October 4, 2007 David maybe you should. Cause one of the patch improve battery life too I thought its stated. :) Yupe, I do know of the numerous improvements but I'm concern of not being able to boot my system (or any other negative side effects) after installing those patches. FYI, I'd disabled System Restore since day 1. And installing Vista again is not an option... :(
Googintosh Share Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Swell, before applying the first update my startup time was ~30s or less. After applying the first update it takes greater than 60s to startup. EDIT: And now I see the "shutting down" screen takes about ~40s to do its thing, which before installing the updates I did not even notice. System Restore to the rescue!
