win8.1 Windows screen keeps locking

Hello people, I?ve had this really quite annoying issue for some time and I have no idea what?s causing it. Every time I resume my PC from sleeps my session is relocked by something and I haven?t been able to trace what?s causing it. Sometimes the session lock happens a within the first minute of unlocking the PC and other times it has locked the session almost minutes later. Is there something I can do to capture what is causing the session lock?

check the event log and it may be able to tell you what cause it.

And check the settings and see if you have timer on... if so, you can adjust the timing or turn it off.

Im assuming its a laptop...

Can you change the power settings ? 

If its the desktop in your sig -- dont let it sleep, just turn off the monitor when youre done using it.

(Unless you're in one of those countries where you have to monitor your electricity usage)

I've checked the event logs, not seeing anything. It's not a laptop, it's a PC. I use the "Monitors off" command in nircmd to shut the monitors off, as it's quicker than actually using the physical buttons.

Don't use an alternate tool. Have your power options shut off the monitor after so many minutes of inactivity. Do it for one if you want or five minutes.

I'll give that a go, maybe it's nircmd causing the session lock, I will test it and report back.

Yep it was the nircmd causing me the issue. I've switched to using a timeout now. Thanks for the prompt.
