WinAMP 5.5 Beta

Winamp 5.5 - Build 1550 - Tweaked

Here are some screenshots showing you people that complain (including me) what lifes like when Winamp is UNBLOATED. I seem to have most of the bloat gone. If you guys spot anything in the screenshots, let me know. I must of shaved off 20-30 MB doing this. (Y)

Just keep in note, I suggest you highly wait till final to do this if you decide to unbloat your Winamp this way you don't got to keep repeating the process.

This looks pretty good! I never liked the newer versions of winamp, but this is shaping up.

My keyboard play/pause media keys don't work in this version though. They work in v2.8 no worries.

[EDIT] I got this working by enabling Global Hotkeys

God, I hate that. You'd be foolish to run 2.95 when there are known vulnerabilities in it. Install 5.x Lite and just unselect all the plugins such as media library and sonic burning. My comments were purely about the skin. 5.x, on a whole, is fine though.

Searching is bloody slow compared to 2.95 - for example pressing j on the playlist and search for text is hideously slow on 5.x series. With my "somewhat larger than normal folks" playlist of 25,000 files and a bit over it "freezes" winamp for a few moments before it can even list hits for the song.?

hey guys,

is there a way to disable the browser from opening everytime i click on title, album, artist at the top middle of winamp?

or practically disable the Browser (which I don't see a way to or know how).

That's my main problem, too. I just want to get rid of the browser crap, and it would be nice to be able to unattach the various windows within the Bento skin. Like being able to unattach the playlist window or the album artwork window. Like how it's done using the modern skin. The best I can do now is to use the modern skin, but select "good ol' winamp" under color themes. Lookin' good now. Also, how do I make it so only filenames are shown when playing the files? I just want it to display by song title, not artist. Example: Angel instead of Aerosmith-Angel. I wish there was a way to do that and still have the media info/artwork show in the Bento skin. So it would say Title-Angel, Artist-Aerosmith, Album-Permanent Vacation, yet when it shows up on the playlist it would show as just the song title, Angel. Anyway for that to happen?

I'm not a fan of the new "Bento" skin, mainly because I don't use the media library feature (I hand name/organize my music), but, I am excited about the album art and other features that new skins can use. Hopefully the guy that makes SimpleX can make a version with album art support.

I fixed it under titles, but how do you make it NOT show the file path using %filename%? I just want the song title, not the full file path. Example: Angel, not C:/Entertainment/Music/Aerosmith/Angel.mp3 Nevermind, I think I got it. You just use %title%

Anyway to make the font and album cover bigger using the Bento skin? They need to work on that in future versions. Unattach the windows, add those bigger font options, and give us a way to permanently hide the media library, video, and visualizations windows if we want without them popping up when we go to enlarge the playlist. Just those few simple things would make it so much better. Great job, Nullsoft team!!
