The emotion in GoW2 and 3 is just too forced for me to take seriously. I ended up laughing when Dom put a damn Boltok to Maria's head in 2, and

his suicide

in 3 was a little OTT as well.

I'm glad that

it was Dom who died in this game and not someone else I cared about. If Cole had died as the rumours suggested I would have been devastated.

Really? I loved that moment in Gears of War 2. I hated the comparable moment in this game, however. It was so forced, like you said. The Maria moment absolutely made sense, though.

I thought that the Maria moment was fairly well done. They had to give some closure to that side-story somehow, and that was the outcome that made the most sense, considering everything that was happening within the game's world.

But the part with

Dom dying was a little too forced for my liking. Like Corris said a few pages back, I hated how they threw the Mad World music in there. It's the dramatic equivalent of sitcoms that use a laugh track. We don't need to be told when something sad is happening.

agree with ckempo on everything. the Maria scene in Gears 2 was incredible, i cried both times i played the campaign

also agree that the SP in Gears 3 is a lot easier than Gears 2, not to mention the first one...you basically never die on normal unless you take a direct explosive hit. but it's still the best entry in the series, by far. i love it.

Haven't really played much MP in about a month and a half (yes almost since Launch) and I haven't lost my touch. I'm really looking forward to playing Clocktower and the new Bulletmarsh. Sadly, I might have to wait until after Thanksgiving to give it a try as I'll be out of town.

Tonight at around 2am PST, Epic Games will release Title Update #2 for Gears of War 3, fixing some exploits, bugs and making some overall improvements to the game.

During the update process, their dedicated servers will not be available, and you should receive a prompt to download the update the next time to sign in to Xbox Live. This is just in time for the upcoming Versus Booster Pack and RAAM?s Shadow DLCs.

Anyone experiencing problems with Gears of War 3 should check the full list of changes in the title update below.

Improvements

  • A spectator mode option has been added to private versus matches for broadcasting by gaming leagues.
    • One player on each team will be able to choose spectator mode during match set up.
    • The matches will be 4v4 with two spectators

[*]The Leader and Vengeful medals are now easier to acquire.

[*]The mutators Roadie Comet and Regen Enemies are now easier to acquire.

[*]Added an option to disable the HUD during multiplayer games for machinima and video creators

  • In Capture the Leader, the overhead Beams on DryDock are no longer accessible.

  • Also during Horde, the Combat Engineer ribbon can now be achieved once per wave instead of once per game.

  • The cringe from the Mortar will no longer cause players to drop their primary weapon.
  • The Hail Mary ribbon is now correctly awarded for long distance Boomshot headshots.
  • Maps will no longer be immediately repeated when choosing random map selection.
  • If the host pauses during a private versus match the game will continue for other players.
    • The game will still pause in the Campaign, Beast and Horde.

I really wish Epic would stop adding stupid achievements that you have to go out of your way to boost. It's pointless.

These for worse than Gears 1 seriously (which I obtained in 2007). Seriously 2.0 was bad...and this stuff is just really dumb. I agree.

These for worse than Gears 1 seriously (which I obtained in 2007). Seriously 2.0 was bad...and this stuff is just really dumb. I agree.

Yup. Seriously 3.0 is the biggest joke of an achievement since they were introduced. Who thought that was a good idea?

And all the DLC they keep adding also has silly achievements that I'm guessing they're only adding to artificially boost the multiplayer statistics so it looks like more people are playing. They need to add achievements that make sense and achievements that you can get with normal play, not boosting.

boosting and OTT achievements are part of Gears lore by this juncture...there's nothing wrong with that.

Yes there is. It ruins many games when they become boost-fests.

Also: Gears of War 3 will be the first game with 2,000 gamerscore points. It was in a broadcast by Rod Ferguson, an Epic developer.

I also read that they might consider weapon kills to count outside of MP such as Horde, Beast, Campaign. He wanted community feedback.

Yup, I read that too and Tweeted him. There's a big poll for it on the Epic forums, too. I hope they change it. I may actually attempt Seriously 3.0 if they do that and lower or remove some requirements. I don't get why they didn't take the nemesis one out completely. It's a reward for playing like crap.

Weapon kills don't bother me, it's play a certain game type (wingman) 1,000,000 times that bother me.

You can get those by letting your console play a private match overnight as long as your controller is plugged in. I haven't done it, but others say it works.

The Gears of War 3 Versus Booster Map Pack hits the Xbox 360 on Thanksgiving Day for free. Not only will players be getting five free maps but also a challenge from Paramount Pictures and the upcoming Tom Cruise movie, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Complete Gears of War 3 on Insane Difficulty by December 25, 2011 either in single or multiplayer mode and unlock exclusive Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Weapon Skin Pack. This pack comes with weapon skins for the Lancer, Retro Lancer, Hammerburst, Gnasher and Sawed-off Shotgun. Those that have already completed the game on Insane will automatically receive the pack on December 31.

    • The entire world moved to the vastly superior and now universally supported Dolby Atmos technology a very long time ago, mate.
    • Insane. This is as crazy as COVID back in 2020, where you could go back one year in time and tell them that everybody's gonna be locked in and now with memory that your old computer was going to be worth more tomorrow
    • "Bad Pool Caller" meaning one of your software is trying to change memory it doesn't own, in a memory pool that's it ,nothing to do with Windows
