I get an access denied, even when logged in with dev acc ..

It's because Apple website's is getting hammered right now and even their main site is getting 404s and Access Denied for pages advertising iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S, probably going to be pretty bad until later today or tomorrow.

Should be. The GM is "considered" the final release, as long as there are no critical bugs. The only exception being iOS4.0, which required a second release after the GM.

You may have to put the phone into DFU mode. I had to on itunes 10.5 beta 9

If you are on a windows PC, you can use transMac to open the DMG file and extract the ipsw file.

iTunes beta links are in the same article. As far as I know no UDID registration is required, unless this is different than other iOS GM builds.

I'm going to try this when I get home on my iPad.

Apparently you can use iTunes 10.5 Beta 7, 8, or 9 to install the GM.

Well they've both had 'tabbed' browsing, it's just that the iPad gets always visible tabs for fast switching. The iPhone tab interface is still the same as it always was I think.

Ah, I don't use an iPhone, you might have guessed, I assume it's the same sort of thing as Windows Phone, a button or menu option?

Need to perform a restore inside iTunes with the iOS GM, the betas wont automatically update to the final release.

I got iOS 5 installed on my CDMA iPhone 4 without a developer account on Windows 7 64 with iTunes 10.5 Beta 7. It does work.
