Rumor or True? America announces war against Iran

Recommended Posts

Words are circulating in China's websites that CNN 21:15 has released a breaking news that the fighter planes from USS Carl Vinson attacked an Iran's navy base at 17:00 local time, sinking 15 Iranian navy ships. The White House is holding a press conference, announcing war against the totalitarian regime.

Please confirm or deny this. The searches on CNN, USAToday, Reuters, NYT ect. have failed to find the clue, largely due to snail net speed here.

(Orignal "rumor" is in Chinese language)

Link to Chinese site? Seems strange that one is not posted. CNN International search turns up nothing on any such incident.

Can you read Chinese?

probably false. it's most likely a mis-translation of a passanger boat sinking off the coast of iran: http://www.aljazeera...5512760184.html

It seems unlikely a mistranslation. The contents of both messages are very differenct. My translation is accurately based on that Chinese news.

Yeah? There are tons of Chinese news everyday translated from foreign websites and most of them have been faithful to their sources.

You've been punked? Your first clue should have been that Reuters doesn't know about it.

Hmm... Reuters has been nagging at your ears so that you always know what they know?

Be honest guy, and don't punk yourself.

Ah. Did I get in the middle of your lame troll? Go away already.

You just go listen to your government news of the people - you know, the "government" that mowed down it's own citizens with tanks. They have your back brah and so should be your number 1 trusted news source.

There is no war between Iran and the US (yet). If there were we'd have heard about it by now from various sources.

False rumour is false.

Wow, that's insane. Also, what's an APC?

Armored personnel carrier - used to ferry ground forces to the front (in addition to Bradley IFVs); however, APCs, as opposed to Bradleys, aren't as well-armed, or therefore as costly.

I can think of reasons well-short of war for a ferry-train to be carrying APCs (including a surplusage sale to a foreign military, such as Israel or a Middle Eastern Arab ally, such as Kuwait, the UAE, or Saudi Arabia).

The Bradley isn't a tank it's an Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV)

no the Bradley is:

Col. Robert Laurel Smith: In summation, what you have before you is...

Sgt. Fanning: A troop transport that can't carry troops, a reconnaissance vehicle that's too conspicuous to do reconnaissance...

Lt. Colonel James Burton: And a quasi-tank that has less armor than a snow-blower, but carries enough ammo to take out half of D.C. THIS is what we're building?

How could the US possibly announce a war against Iran, without anybody who's actually in the US knowing? Congress, Senate, muckrakers, insiders...

Unless you're talking about a covert war, in which case, I'd say we've been in one for a long while now.
