Mequore is a Windows concept that I've created. This is the first part; the start menu. The start menu is based on the traditional Windows Vista/7 start menu, but with a few twists. An example of this, is the top bar named So.cl. For those who don't know, So.cl is a new social network created by Microsoft. It's currently invite only however. The meaning of the bar is quick access to social media, and you can easily replace it with Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc. Also, the Windows XP like top has returned in this concept.

Next, we have the taskbar. The taskbar is simple, clean looking and shows 3 stages of the taskbar buttons: Normal, hovered and pressed.

I will be releasing the explorer version of this concept soon, and might release other parts of it as well. Until then, let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions

I really really REALLY like that would be nice if it wasn't as square, I think something like this would look awesome in the Linux distro FusionOS, it looks great for windows, but there are a few things I would change, like making it a little bit more rounded, even if just slightly. I've always wanted to write a new explorer, or one that would match the conceptual longhorn designs, but I don't have the design skills to make it look at pretty. Code wise I could do it, but not in terms of design.

Though, I do like the search functionality that the Vista/7 start menu supports, that seems lacking here.

Thanks. I did consider creating a rounded version, but I thought I would try something different and do a square one. If i get the time, I might just create a rounded version too.

I wish I could code this, but sadly, I'm too busy to actually start learning how to code. Also, codding an alternative explorer/interface is too big a hassle considering the fact that not that many would use it :/

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2. • Normally, I admit when a title is clickbait (unfortunately, it's become somewhat necessary to compete against AI-dominated news sections today), but in this case, all supported versions is implied and doesn't need to be spelled out in the title. Of course, I'm covering a Patch Tuesday update bug that is only available to supported Windows SKUs. All our coverage relates to supported Windows software and SKUs only unless we expressly state that it's "unsupported", "unofficial", or "third-party". I'm sorry, but supported/official SKUs don't need to be spelled out as such in every Neowin headline.
