actually. I made a mockup of where MS could go with this.

Here the blue is the accent color of Aero (it could be any color (although a mid intensity one). This accent color will control the accent on the icons aswell. This way they can create a massively customizable UI and one which is harmonious. The window not selected will become greyscale so it can be the biggest indicator and we wont need darker shadows or even borders.

honestly, i'd say you have a better take on metro than MS does.... which isn't shocking, your work is consistent and actually thought out... as to MS metro -> :pc:

Love the changes, but why aren't they using their Windows Phone (Which is one of the pillars of their Metro theme) throughout the whole OS?

Throughout Windows 8, Metro and Desktop, they are using a slightly updated version of the Segoe UI font. Windows Vista and 7 included Segoe UI version 5.10, Windows 8 (CP and above) are using version 5.16 of the font.

no. no hate on Zain. I saw his design and it looked pretty good.

Im just saying. there are a lot of people that waste their time customizing their OS just to make it look pretty.

you ever heard of the KISS rule.. Keep It Simple Stupid.

You ever heard of the notion that some people like to customize their OS to fit their needs and/or how they want it to look?

Source that the new UI is using less resources (in a non-negligeable way) than Aero ?

Yup it will be just using the same amount of resources since it's just a customized .msstyles :p

That also means that it might be possible to port the windows 7 theme back t windows 8 lolz

Actually.. The mockup I created is exactly how the UI is in the new office preview minus my own made icons for the ribbon.

somebody asked for a ribbon minimized look here it is:

As good as that is looking if it was a real theme you'd get a large group who wants more color for the icons instead of just blue and gray. I'm sure you remember all the kickback the VS guys got when they took out most of the color from the icons etc.

I totally understand that.

What I think is that the Yellow folder is just too old now.

Change it to blue. Just the folder. It will make a hell lot of a difference.

Well, as I posted before, now that the window chrome isn't taken over by glass I expect the return of theme packs ala XP days for the Win8 desktop. So people can just install different icon packs to change the folders and so on. I use to do it back then, hated the default luna themes (too bright for me). How about taking your cocept and doing a darker version? I dunno about just gray though, maybe a darker, not quite black, gray would work though. Along the lines of Offices dark theme maybe?

:D one of the biggest improvements there is that it shows folder size - I can't get the CP or W7 to do that -.-

I hope microsoft brings out something similar to iTunes with iTunes U and lectures as well as podcasts and videos and everything.

I still think the default Start Screen is ugly as sin. I really wish Microsoft would focus on creating an attractive OoBE. Too many mis matched colors.

We have news , travel and sports ! And removed magnifying glass for schematic zooming is confirmed

Hold on, i know about zoom on the start screen and in some metro apps but what about zoom on the desktop? Does winkey+(+) let me zoom in on where my mouse pointer is like with the magnifying glass?

It should... The magnifying glass i was mentioning was this ... post-293012-0-13527800-1337603023.png

They might have thought the magnifying glass is more commonly identified with search instead of zooming.

This probably, I forget, but isn't that used for the search charm in the charm bar? A magnifying glass I mean.

    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
