but think this way: they only make you pay for the EXTRA things, Winamp 5 is still greater than the old versions even if you do not get the EXTRA things...

No, because the MP3 file format is still under a patent. Even though there are free encoders out there (e.g. LAME) it still costs money if you want to distribute it with your software legally.

We'll see what ZoneAlarm has to say about that. Surely, if Winamp doesn't connect to the Internet, then Nullsoft can't track it. :unsure:
