Microsoft, THIS is what Metro UI on Desktop Should Look Like! Community

People that talk about the icons needing to be changed, they're doing it, we'll see more as we get closer to RTM. We don't know how new or old that build is at this point. Sure it's post-RP but the RP has been out for a bit already.

let hope they fix icon chrome size

they look **** ugly in start screen

Yes it's awesome to finally have an updated version of Windows 2.0. Actually curious how this 'new' GUI fits in with recent news that the Gov. has moles planted in Microsoft, which IS a reason to ditch Microsofts products.

recent news? wow welcome to the 1990s... everyones known that MS and the gov works together since then on "things"

Well, Microsoft, from what we have seen so far, almost no one is happy with what you are doing with the desktop ...

Well , that first statement is a bit daft to start with ... almost no one??

.. as for the design , no thanks , not for me.

I'm not a big "Metro" fan, but I gotta agree.. this is 100 times better than the crap Microsoft will release.

I like the "close", "minimize" and "maximize" buttons... You want to go Metro Microsoft? Do it properly or keep Aero for God's sake!!!

Poor us, Windows users... lol

Just for your information, I hate the Windows 7 Aero interface. I like the metro UI and the digitally authentic concept. But the desktop itself looks ugly, and I really hope MS can make the desktop look beautiful using the metro design concept.

Well the actual UI isn't far off that. Probably will be refined even further till the final product is released

we still have windows 98 era icons in windows 7/2008R2.

Yuk, 98's icons were really bad. Personally most icons on Windows I can't stand. Ever since I started using OSX, I fell in love with the graphics on that side of the fence.

Has anyone found any dated icons in OSX????

Up until Mountain Lion, the camera icon for taking screenshots was lifted straight out of NeXTstep. And it took until Lion for the original Aqua-style widgets to be retired.

Beyond that, no, Mac OS X doesn't seem to have many legacy icons, but that's because it was a completely new code base from the classic Mac OS.

Yeah, nice. I could live with that. Don't know what the hell is going on with Microsoft and Metro right now. Billion dollars and dudes in online forums produce better concepts. Yeah, I have an issue with that. Something is really wrong at MS in the UI/Graphic Design areas.

Just asking, take a look at the real one again. The window controls in this mockup are exactly what MS did in the real thing.

Microsoft are limited in the amount they can change without potentially breaking older apps. Also without window borders it because a lot more difficult to use touch to resize them.

I would like to be able to change the accent colour, and have it effect icons, and the status bar, taskbar etc Not sure if this would be possible with the theme system as it is.

The Icons need to be much more Metro-fied, just look at Visual Studio 2012 and Office 2013

    • The memory and nvme can be swapped and upgraded with standard parts. But the GPU cannot, which is the weakest part of the box. It's a dead product at these prices.
    • Sounds like the debloated build you are running is missing some components that the Photos app and Snipping Tool rely on.
    • Apparently, Microsoft doesn't use water in their taps, washrooms or clean their facility. /sarc
    • Wow, throwback.  VERY VERY briefly - but realised that it wasn't the language I needed for the tasks I was taking on.
    • Apple and Tesla trade secrets reportedly exposed following a Tata Electronics cyberattack by Hamid Ganji Image via Depositphotos.com Tata Electronics has confirmed that it detected a cybersecurity incident in some of its systems. The Indian company is a manufacturing partner of both Apple and Tesla, and the incident may have exposed some trade secrets belonging to the two American companies. The World Leaks ransomware group is said to be behind the attack, and it has reportedly posted up to 200,000 files on the dark web, including component designs and specification documents related to Apple and Tesla products. Tata Electronics told Reuters that its response protocols were deployed immediately and that the “incident has had no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.” The ransomware group reportedly sent a ransom demand to Tata Electronics, while Apple has launched an investigation into the incident. World Leaks claims it stole more than 200,000 files totaling over 630GB from Tata Electronics. Some database files on the ransomware group’s website are titled "com.apple.factorydata," which could refer to Apple’s iPhone production operations in India. Moreover, some documents reportedly contain material specifications and quality inspection standards for iPhone circuit board components. However, Apple is not the only affected company. A folder found in the World Leaks database is titled "NV36 Chargeport Controller - North America," which may refer to Tesla Model Y components. Additionally, other files in the database reportedly contain drawings related to Tesla’s Project Highland, the internal codename for the EV maker’s updated Model 3 sedan. To support the authenticity of the stolen files, World Leaks has published documents containing footers that read: "This document contains proprietary and confidential information of Apple Inc." and "information contained herein is deemed confidential, proprietary, and a trade secret of Tesla Inc." Cybersecurity researcher Rajshekhar Rajaharia told Reuters that the database also contains emails, event logs spanning several years, and passport copies of employees, including foreign nationals. Both Tesla and Apple have declined to comment on the scale of the incident.
