NeoLin - Who's in?

Recommended Posts

Right whilst we seem to be discussing in the other topic, I suppose its time to see who's actually in with this.

Please, no trolling in this thread. Only post if you are serious about this.

I suppose just start off with what you can do really.

<< Oh, and btw, NeoLin is obviously not the name >>

Lets do this!

I'll do my best to help, just set me aside on all the super-easy stuff (:

more specifically: I can definitely help with the stock software, but I'll need to do some major brushing up on my C/C++ before I'll be able to help on the rest of it...but I'll do my best :p

(BTW, why don't you put a name vote in somewhere? Shift2 is my vote, unless someone comes up with something cooler.)

EDIT: I'm somewhat good at C# and other .NET languages (again, vote for Mono!), and so it shouldn't be too hard to pick up Java if we wanna go that route. I'll also brush up on my C++ :p

I am in, I can do the programming stuff (I can code in C/C++, little bit of Java & C#) , though I have no prior experience with building distros. Can do testing documentation etc etc.

+1 to Shift2

We would need designers / modders / coders.. etc ..

Wow this is lot of work .. :D

Lets gear up guys!

How about Shift2?

Programming wise I really only have experience with PHP and VB/VB.net (woo mono!), but Im willing to learn anything to help further the cause.

I have been learning how to build linux for a little bit now, and have had some success with building an Arch install and getting stuff going on it.

Oh, that one was floating around as a possibility years back, when Shift was up and running. I think it was a morph of Lindows. :pinch:

Lindows, haha now I remember that :D

EDIT: So it looks like we have a few peoples in then :)

I'd be able to do bits of coding, however I can't make any major commitments since I code all day too.

Another vote for Shift2 here. That said, I think this was discussed in the other threads, but is there any way we can incorporate the old Shift name/logo, and continue that with a non-compatible new release? It might give the distro a recognition boost.

I can do some publicity design and theme design.

Some years ago I did (with another member) three or fours Windows Styles that were somewhat popular. Way back when Windows thumbing mattered. To this day I still try to study GUIs.

Ahhh a themer! :D

We could do a new non-compatible release, but I think most of the people on this want the experience of creating something from scratch, unless I'm mistaken, in which case feel free to either hadouken me or yell :D

Can do graphics (UI/conception mockups etc) and photography (wallpapers).

Never did any theming, so I'd be new to it, but I sure could provide the graphics for elements and a mockup, if anyone is good at making components a theme or whether there are easy guides...

Animations I don't know right now... Would need some digging into that. :)

Glassed Silver:mac

Just a quick exercise in branding (In case we keep the Shift name).

After examining the most memorable tech logos I opted to propose a very simple yet memorable approach. Apple, Ubuntu, Windows (Now with Metro) etc all of them use solid shapes and clean lines.

In the other hand Shift means change, either direction or speed but also has a strong link with the concept of road (again, direction).

Again, this is just a crude proposal. I wanted something elegant and professional.

Shift2 sounds cool, but I wouldn't like typing it in :) what about the official name is Shift2, but when easier we can just use Shift2 or Shift^2? I couldn't stand having to press the superscript button everytime I want to mention it :D

    • Nvidia GeForce NOW gains support for seven more games as discounts continue by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There's a brand-new update rolling out to Nvidia's GeForce NOW streaming service, and like every week, that means more games have received support on the platform. This week's drop has additions like Aphelion and Pro Cycling Manager 26 attached to it. Don't forget that the GeForce NOW summer sale is still active too. This limited-time offer drops the 12-month Performance membership from $99.99 to $64.99, saving members $35. At the same time, the 12-month Ultimate membership is currently going for $129.99, dropping the price by $70 from the original $199.99. Moreover, Nvidia reiterated that support for GOG single sign-in and game library is incoming this summer, joining stores like Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Battle.net, and Xbox. "Connect supported game store accounts and stream titles with GeForce RTX power. Games that include cloud-save functionality help keep progress intact across devices," added the company. "Start a game on one screen, pick up where playtime left off on another, and spend less time managing installs and storage space." Here are the games joining GeForce NOW's supported list this week: Embers of the Uncrowned Demo (New release on Steam, available 13) Pro Cycling Manager 26 (New release on Steam, available June 15) Aphelion (Steam) Citizen Sleeper (Epic Game Store, Free from June 18-25) Megastore Simulator (Steam) OPERATOR (Steam) Super Meat Boy 3D (Xbox, available on Game Pass) Keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass or EA Play, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers. There is also a limit to how many hours subscribers can use the service per month, with extra time being purchasable in chunks.
    • 47% profit margin? Wtf!! I know companies are in business to make money but come on man. I know for a fact I'll never own one of these.
