No issues here. As a last resort you might want to go to %LOCALAPPDATA%/Google/Chrome and backup the User Data folder (export bookmarks within the browser itself, and move User Data to the desktop) while Chrome is completely closed. Then reopen Chrome with a new profile and see if the setting is enabled or not.

How did you get rid of the black bar that is appearing for me?

Umm… dunno? Your title bar is transparent which means you're using "Material Hybrid" as opposed to just "Material"… right? That's what I'm on.

Which black line? The line under the address bar? You can't.

But if you look at my screenshot you can see that I don't have it.

And if I get it I will… probably do nothing except get very annoyed.

But are you on beta or Canary/dev? there might be  difference :s

Just Material but I did try Material Hybrid.

Are you on a retina mac? It's not as noticeable on my retina machine at home but it's still there.

I am, yes. Strange, I don't have any black lines at all. I remember seeing others complaining about it, but completely forgot since.

Google Chrome Adds Anti-Tampering System to Fend Off Quantum Computing Attacks company is now including a project called New Hope into Chrome

New Hope is a re-implementation of the Ring-LWE encrypted key-exchange protocol used with OpenSSL, specifically hardened to fend off quantum computing attacks. New Hope is included with Google Chrome version 54.0.2791.1, a.k.a. Canary SyzyASan.

"We explicitly do not wish to make our selected post-quantum algorithm a de-facto standard," writes Matt Braithwaite, Google Chrome Software Engineer. "To this end we plan to discontinue this experiment within two years, hopefully by replacing it with something better."

Until then, users can recognize if a website is using a quantum-computing hardened version of TLS by going to the Google Chrome Security Panel inside Developer Tools [press F12] and looking for the CECPQ1 label in the Key Exchange field, as pictured below.

Curious to hear if any of you are aware of Google implementing a Reader View-mode anytime soon? Firefox and Safari each have their own. I like both implementations of those browsers but the Chromium browsers does not feature any built-in Reader View-mode?! I don't think that using the Readability extension is all that great but it's what I must use.

Updated to "54.0.2840.59 m" and the tabs in the tab row suddenly got relatively massive. What is the reason and any way to change them back to being "slim"?

Oh gawd, they aren't going the route Firefox did with it's cartoonish tabs are they?

Well with Material design the tab height is around the same as the toolbar below it for me (which is a little bigger than pre Material design) it's not too distracting.

You haven't updated to the same version as I have though, have you? When I updated, as if by cruel magic, everything in the tab/address/bookmark bar was suddenly padded with lots of empty space at the top and bottom and the tab icons grew by a lot.

Nah, I am on 54, but in the beta channel. I can't go higher because it always causes problems with the CKEditor that we use in our CMS.

Whoa, something else going wrong there? I am on the exact same version :s

I use Slimjet 64 Bit as a secondary Browser, it is built off of the Chromium base. It runs well and has never crashed. Something I cannot say about Firefox. But Fx 50 is better. I tried Chrome once and did not care for it although it was very fast.

Indeed, though @Zlip792 posted a screenshot with lots of space a couple of months ago. Still, do not understand why the tabs now appear to be very "tall". It's as if they are trying to make things easier for touch-screen users...

    • Hello, From looking at the screen shots in your motherboard's manual at https://endownload.colorful.cn/EnDownload/MotherBroard/2022/Intel 600/Manual/Intel 600 Series BIOS English/Intel 600 Series BIOS User Guide.pdf, you go to the ADVANCED option at the top of the BIOS (UEFI) menu, then select SECURITY in the list of options on the left.  From there  you can enable and set the Secure Boot mode. • Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is getting a simultaneous release across PC and all consoles by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Square Enix showed up to the Summer Game Fest presentation today with multiple trailers showing off its next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake saga. The final chapter of this trilogy now has an official name too, with it being dubbed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, following up Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth from recent years. Vincent Valentine, Cid, Cloud, Barret, Tifa, and more showed up in the trailers as they battle against enemies, or 'Weapons,' from the final chapter. "As the world teeters on the brink of annihilation, the final battle against Sephiroth begins," says the trailer description. "A meteor mars the sky, monstrous planetary guardians wreak havoc across the globe, and the fires of war rage. Now, Cloud and his companions must stand against this chaos to not only decide the planet's fate, but bring a legendary conflict to its conclusion." Following the reveal trailer, the show also dropped some gameplay footage that shows off a new way to travel across the open world using the Highwind airship. Players will be able to swap characters on during battles, use tactical mode to synchronize with allies, and summon their entities. Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine are joining the party this time too. “FINAL FANTASY VII, first released in 1997, has been beloved by fans for many years and has since become a “legend” in its own right," added producer Yoshinori Kitase. "The FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Series that began in 2020 with everyone’s passionate support is finally reaching its climactic finale with FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION. The story’s final destination represents my emotions spanning thirty years working on this title" One of the biggest revelations of this announcement, however, was the multiplatform release confirmation from the get-go. Square Enix will be releasing Final Fantasy VII Revelation across PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 in Spring 2027 without any timed exclusivity programs.
    • Hello, Having a simple utility to allow Microsoft's customers to configure the context menu, with a few options like showing the current menu, showing a proposed menu/alternate configurations, loading and saving the settings, and a "reset to default" option would have solved this. Let Microsoft provide a recommended default look-and-feel, maybe a couple alternative configurations, like a basic/simplified version of that, and a more advanced version for that, and that would have been very well-received, I think. Microsoft could even had offered a library of different configurations, similar to what they have done in the past for Windows Media Player skins, Themes, and desktop wallpaper. • No Steam release. It's gonna fail on PC. Even an Epic Online engineer said that people go there for the free stuff and then immediately go back to Steam.
    • Nice. Admittedly, his other games never interested me, but this seems pretty cool.
