Hello,

Because Windows 8 RTM has been released to a few Microsoft partners who are operating under NDA, I don't think who has it will be able to discuss it. There may, of course, be some people who say that they have pirated copies of it, but I would not trust the legitimacy of whatever it was they downloaded.

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

Whatever the NDA, I don't care

1. During installation, they still have the faux Aero borders to setup window.

2. The first thing I noticed after install is the new sound scheme which got annoying in exactly 5 minutes. (Disabled it)

3 . You cannot change user pic or some start screen background unless you activate.

4. N version has no media features so you cannot benchmark your system using Windows Experience Index.

5. The new non aero theme is totally sucky.

6. Icons have not been updated.

7. No wow factor.

8. DPC Latency still in 1000's

9. No UI Consistency

Improvements over Release Preview:

1. Non metro apps have bigger icons in tiles.

2. New wallpapers

3. Nvidia Drivers latest up to Series 600 installed by default.

I may have missed lots of other things, but this is my 15 min of usage.

So my verdict:

Total and utter sh** to come out of Redmond after Vista.

Been kinda a MS fanboy but this time there is no hint of polish anywhere.

Have you tried RP? If yes, then is it as if you're just using that same build?

Not exactly as RP. Slightly worse.

UI is just as we all feared it would be. I believe transparency is easy on eyes compared to in your face Pink and Baby blue window borders.

@ sanke1: Yeah, those "fruit tone" colors make my head hurt. It's like a mango, a kiwi and a watermelon got liquored up the night before, puked, and now have hangovers. The white everywhere else makes the headache even worse.

    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. Brave Browser 1.91.171 changelog: General Fixed Cardano not being disabled on upgrade to Brave Origin. Upgraded Chromium to 149.0.7827.103. Origin Removed “Survey Panelist” setting from brave://settings/privacy. Fixed P3A and usage ping under brave://settings/privacy being displayed on first launch on Linux. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
