Will Microsoft fix UI inconsistencies in 8?

Recommended Posts

Yes it'll be fixed in Windows 9 with full 'Metro'. The people on here thinking, somehow, Microsoft will throw out all their work (in trying to remove the desktop and integrate this portable GUI) and bring the Desktop back in W9 are fooling themselves. Why in the world else would Software makers be coming out now, announcing they are looking into other platforms?.

Geez, doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure this out. Microsoft bet it's company that you and your Grandmother will throw out their Desktops and buy their Tablets. It's just another bad move from an irrelevant company. They can't use their monopoly powers anymore, as much as they wish, so now it's like a Chicken without a head. It's really as simple as that Fan boys.

Goodness Mike, Happy Birthday!

Well, they said the Desktop is here to stay. I just hope it looks more Metro than it currently does. And I wished they would do it now, in Windows 8, but alas this always happens with interim builds. Windows 9 will be a brilliant OS... hopefully.

Microsoft should start cutting out all the legacy baggage such as ancient icons and things. Hell if someone wants those things back, give them some sort of a compatibility wrapper they can install.

I really hope now that Linux blows up, a lot of companies and game developers switch to it and publish their games (starting with Valve) and we dump Microsoft once and for all.

Hopefully Windows 8 failure will be the beginning of it. I'm really sick and tired of them. Decades of existence and they came out with 2 Windows that were worth something.

I have absolutely no problem with the new start screen. I love it and the new improvements as well. Integrating apps was a nice addition as well. Everything is fine.... except for the FAWKEN CLOWN COLORS!

I need some some eye candy that would look professionnal as well. I don't think it's too much to ask. And I don't think it would hurt the performance too much as well. Even Android has some nice UI touches that makes it look more like a serious OS; unlike a great product wrapped in fisher price like MS is pushing right now!

Cool. Then don't use them. But, they're not going anywhere. Linux has proven to have far too many problems that consumer don't want to be of any interest To OEMs.

If your not happy with the way windows 8 looks then skin it. You can make it look like w7 with a few minor tweaks i am sure within the next month someone will make a transformation pack for windows 8 to make it look like windows 7.

You can already download classicshell to make the start menu come back, you can edit registers or the UXtheme equivalent to add the aero theme from windows 7, and you can boot right into desktop and in theory disable metro if you like! All the software to do this is around its just not all bundled into a 1 click and your up and running looking like windows 7 package.

Meh why hang around in the past, same thing was said about the way windows xp, windows vista and longhorn looked. Your grow used to it and move on with the times.

You clearly don't understand what the OP is talking about.

I didn't know you were so good at programming operating systems. Why don't you build your own and show us what a good OS is then?

I take it you can reproduce every product in existence you have an opinion on as well? If not your reply holds no meaning.

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
