I don't need to try my "damnest" to vilify you. You do a good job of that on your own, making idiotic statements such as "damn right I'm not going to go peacefully". Why shouldn't you? If the law changed and you were no longer allowed to own a gun, you should absolutely hand it over. By your own statements in the past, people give up their rights when they break the law. Either way, the fact of the matter is you say really stupid things and act all big and tough and when you get called on your B.S. you act like a wounded puppy "Omg you're trying to vilify me!" "Why are you personally attacking me?" "You don't even know me."

As much as I disagree with DocM and a few of the others about guns, they don't act like a bunch of idiots when discussing their points.

How am I acting like an idiot? Tell me exactly how I am an idiot go on. Because I have a point of view different from other people? Is that it? You trying to make me out to be some crazy person with a gun but your comments towards me are angrily put, is that even necessary? Maybe you need to step away from the computer if you can't handle my opinion. And you don't get it if guns are banned the U.S is no longer the U.S the Bill of Rights is a contract between the government and the citizens once that contract is broken all bets are off. Its not simply a law being put in place. And I wasn't trying to act big and tough, why would I want to act big and tough on the internet?

In one post you claim you would refuse to go peacefully if your toys were taken away, while in another you're disturbed by the fact someone would threaten to shoot you should guns continue to be your right. Sounds pretty idiotic to me. Sounds pretty big and tough to me, that you would go down in a hail of bullets just so you would be allowed to keep your toys. Regardless if it's a law or a contract, it shouldn't exist. There is absolutely zero reason for a civilian to own any sort of a gun in this day and age. They are solely for severely injuring and or killing. So to say "I own a gun" or "I must have a gun it's my right" is essentially saying "Yes, I own a device specifically for killing." That in and of itself paints you with the same brush as most of the lunatics running around rampant mass-shooting all over your country.

the silence is deafening

I don't do silence.

I was hoping you'd do silence because you just spouted out the most bullcrap I've heard all day. I'm going to put it short and sweet because i'm off to bed now but Here's the deal, if you don't like the way I live and the way others live in the U.S stay on your side of the border. Its that simple allow us to do as we wish and we'll allow you the same decency. And no one is forcing you or me or anyone else to own a gun. I own it by choice. But anyway i'm off to bed because this tough guy can't handle any more of your dribble.

The only bullcrap here is that they allow you to own a gun. Anyone who claims they'd go down fighting (aka. MURDERING other human beings) simply because they aren't allowed to have their toys anymore, is no better than the idiots shooting up movie theaters. It doesn't matter which country I come from. What you say and do effects humanity as a whole and there will come a time where you WON'T be allowed to own a gun. I just wish I could be granted the satisfaction of watching you cry on your knees as they hauled them away so I could point and laugh that you didn't actually go out in your blaze of glory and folded like 90% of the others pushing out their chests around here.

U.S. is on the brink of a civil war. I'm not particularly talking about one against the government. I'm talking about citizen vs citizen. The culture is broken. It has been since at least the 70s and all the problems are compiling into a multigenerational **** fest.

as he said, you keep to your beliefs we'll stick to ours. I've spent my whole life around guns. served in the military and during THAT time shot weaponry from different nations as France and Germany. I earned my hunters safety license at age 12. I was born and raised to respect guns and still do.

But some of the people here, don't believe in something they never had a right to in their lives. Can't complain about something you never had. but ask Russia and china when their governments took their means of self defense.

You cannot criticize someone who has a right that you don't. must be jealousy. anyway, good night and rest well.

Oh look, more B.S. The fact that you believe it's your right to own a weapon which allows you to choose whether another human being lives or dies, is indication enough that civilians shouldn't own a gun. Such an ass backwards way of thinking. This is why it shouldn't be and never should have been a right. I don't need to be born and raised to respect guns. I was born and raised to respect humanity. This has nothing to do with beliefs. If you feel you have to own a device specifically designed to severely injure or kill someone/something, especially another human....there is something seriously wrong with you.

There are very very few things that you and I can/will agree on. This is definitely one of them.

That post shows how little you understand the U.S. Every time our demise is predicted, we just seem to move on just fine. It's amazing how many uneducated folks you find here on Neowin.

And your post shows how arrogant the U.S. actually is. If and when your country implodes, and all signs point to "It's happening soon", this arrogance is what's going cause the rest of the world to give your country a collective finger.

Gun restrictions have been proven to work in numerous countries, including the UK and Germany. This isn't some hypothetical scenario - gun restrictions reduce firearms fatalities.

The UK and Germany aren't the US though. And those same types of restrictions have been tried here and utterly failed (Washington DC is a perfect example).

Teenage hormones are extremely dangerous in a country where anyone can get their hands on a gun.

And most teenagers can't legally buy a gun anyway. So that point is moot.

In places with the most gun restrictions there tends to be more crime and murder. How many murders do you hear about in states like Montana,Kansas,Oklahoma and so many other states. Of course they'll say oh not many people live out there, well yeah compared to a city with millions and millions in a confined area but the U.S isn't just cities theres million and millions that don't live in those big cities.

Obviously, restricting guns in one small pseudo-state while allowing them everywhere else won't work. If the U.S. was close to European countries, we'd probably see tons of guns too.

So if every state banned guns they wouldn't come from Mexico? I find that very hard to believe. Oh and the criminals handing their guns in lol yeah ok. Also if you think everyone would hand in their guns I think you're sorely mistaken. I'm not talking about going down in a blaze of glory either. I'm talking about the people in the country that have guns handed down through their family through hundreds of years and just people in general they wont show up to turn in their guns. Also the U.S government doesn't have the man power nor do they have the money to hire enough people to go house to house to find guns. Couldn't happen our country is way to big and theres to many people for that to happen.

I have seen you post this lots, and with some digging i do see that it is indeed true. But do you honestly think the reason for this is because they have less guns? Or could there be a different reason? I would say the larger the population the more crazies your bound to have which would push the number up not because of gun control. You see that everywhere... as a city grows, more and more crime (based on population of course) begins to happen.

It's the other way around. U.S. guns are being transported to Mexico by gangs, because they're so easy to buy.

And it's pretty obvious the Mexican government would love to get rid of them.

In the country pretty much everyone owns a gun and yes they do have human contact. I don't blame our murders on the gun culture we've always had guns. But look at the 1990s look at the huge jump in murders. You know what that came from? Gangs, I blame a lot of our murders on the gang culture. Rap stars glorifying gangs and shooting each other. People in the ghettos listen to that and it glorifies what they are doing and they think its cool or whatever. But yet the people in the country with guns don't go around shooting each other. If I could get rid of all the gangs, the gang mentality, the rap music glorifying it and the notion that its cool to be a thug then I bet a lot of the crime would go down.

It's the other way around. U.S. guns are being transported to Mexico by gangs, because they're so easy to buy.

Really? Its been proven that only a very small amount of guns went into mexico.Hell the Obama administration purposely let thousands of guns flow through the Mexican border. Gun stores were allowed to sell those guns, the feds gave them the o.k. Normally this is against the law but they allowed this to happen. 300 died and a border patrol agent lost his life to those guns. What if this scandal never was uncovered and people actually believed that gun stores sold their guns without government approval? People would be going crazy over it but the government funded and o.k'd this fiasco. The Mexican government is corrupt that country is ran by drug cartels.

I'd love to hear your explanation as to why there are much more violent crimes, rapes, murders, assasinations, and pretty much any crime you can imagine in the U.S. than in countries with strict gun laws such as most European nations. Surely, since we have less guns, criminals must be killing people everyday because we can't defend ourselves?

Read my comment above. Why aren't people in the country having shoot outs every day. Way aren't I shooting it out with my neighbor right now?

King Cracker, do you think it's a good idea to introduce relaxed gun laws into states with high homicide rates?

I think that if a person has a clean criminal record they should be allowed to have a carry permit in area's with strict gun control because as the statistics prove those are the area's with the most murders, if a law abiding citizen can even the odds against a potential murderer i'm all for it. Yeah I know the same old story though. If a law abiding citizen owns a gun they'll go on a shooting spree because the gun makes them a killer and a blood thirsty animal, same old same old stuff. I don't see why a woman couldn't own a gun for self protection either. If it would stop a rape or a rape/murder from happening. Guns stay in the hands of criminals while law abiding citizens give them up. The murder rate dropped in D.C when the handgun ban was lifted. Why? Because law abiding citizens have something to protect themselves with, remember you don't always have to use a gun to stop someone from murdering you sometimes just showing the gun can stop a crime. A criminal picks easy targets. If he knows you're armed there's less chance hes going to rob, murder or rape you.

wow.... yet another shooting (they happen everyday all over the place) yet people are blaming the guns and not the idiots using them. I agree with KingCracker - that anyone should be allowed to purchase and carry a gun of their choice as long as they maintain a valid permit and are trained in using it that obviously have no criminal record and pass all background checks as we already have. If someone wants to do something and they can't get one the legal way they will go beyond that no matter what control laws are put in place so control laws only hurt those with legit rights to own and carry.

    • This Dell 27 inch 4K 120Hz IPS monitor is really cheap after a very long time by Sayan Sen Recently we covered a really good deal on an AMD RX 9070 three-fan model that's available at slightly above its MSRP. If you are looking for a GPU for 1440p gaming that's around the performance of the Nvidia RTX 5070 you should most definitely check it out. Let's say that you are looking for a monitor to pair that up with too. The Samsung 49" G9 curved QD-OLED superultrawide is a good option that can provide an immersive experience. However despite being a very good deal currently (at $855), it may seem unaffordable to you, or you may simply not want to spend as much on a monitor. In that case Dell's S2725QS can be a very good option as it's on sale at the moment for its lowest price in over six months (purchase link under the specs table down below). The big highlight of the Dell S2725QS is its 27-inch IPS panel with a 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD) resolution, offering a high pixel density that can make text appear sharper while also providing plenty of screen space for productivity and media consumption. The display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz through both HDMI and DisplayPort, making it suitable not only for everyday desktop use but also for smoother gaming and scrolling. AMD FreeSync Premium support is included as well, helping reduce screen tearing during gaming sessions. The screen has fairly good brightness and color accuracy so you can use it for general work purpose, though photo/video editing is probably not going to be the best match for this. The technical specs of the Dell S2725QS are given in the table below: Specification Value Viewable Screen Size 27 in (68.58 cm) Screen Mode 4K UHD Maximum Resolution 3840 × 2160 Maximum Preset Resolution 3840 × 2160 @ 120 Hz Standard Refresh Rate 120 Hz Panel Technology In-plane Switching (IPS) Backlight Technology LED Edgelight System Pixel Density 163 PPI Response Time 8 ms GTG, 5 ms GTG, 4 ms GTG Horizontal Viewing Angle 178° Vertical Viewing Angle 178° Brightness 350 cd/m² (nits) Native Contrast Ratio 1500:1 Color Support 1.07 Billion Colors Color Gamut 99% sRGB (CIE 1931) Adaptive Sync AMD FreeSync Premium HDCP Support Yes Mount Type Panel Mount VESA Mount 100 × 100 mm Maximum Height Adjustment 13 cm Tilt -5° to 21° Swivel -30° to 30° Pivot ±90° Stand Adjustments Tilt, Swivel, Height, Pivot Glass Hardness 3H Horizontal Frequency 27–270 kHz (DisplayPort 1.4 / HDMI 2.1) Vertical Frequency 48–120 Hz (DisplayPort 1.4 / HDMI 2.1) Video Inputs 2 × HDMI 2.1 (HDCP 1.4 & 2.3), 1 × DisplayPort 1.4 (HDCP 1.4 & 2.3) Operating Temperature 0°C to 40°C Storage Temperature -20°C to 60°C Operating Humidity 10%–80% (Non-condensing) Storage Humidity 5%–95% (Non-condensing) Get it at the link below: Dell S2725QS 27-inch 4K 120Hz IPS monitor: $218.49 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) (Was: $280) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified.
