If they are paying for their employee phones and service contracts, then they can make them use whatever they want. I think its a good idea so that the developers want to make the app better.

Wait, what? Have I missed something? The version I'm using still sucks.

Edit: I just found out that it is I who suck. Totally missed they released a new version today.

It's not rocket science to write a mobile app. It's especially not hard if you also happen to be the company that owns the API's and data the mobile app will consume.

The reason FB's mobile apps suck is they are a company with terrible software engineering practices, and also because forcing people to use the website generates more revenue. So they've delayed making a decent mobile app as long as they could. If they want, any number of contract houses will be more than happy to create a proper Android app.

Its inexcusable for a company as rich and big as FB.
