I could say the same thing about Notch too especially when what he keeps talking about is false

Except he has his viewpoint and you have yours. And I agree with him. I believe Windows is becoming more restrictive, also. They're already trying to limit how we use Windows and make it more "generic". If they really wanted to, they could push Intel into developing something on x86 instead of ARM that would be equal in terms of power and performance, but they like the idea of making apps available ONLY in an App Store. Of course there will be Pro versions, but they also cost a LOT more. I'm glad someone is standing up for people instead of just acting like sheep.

You can believe it all you want, but it's not fact, in fact it's completely wrong since Windows is still as open as it ever was. what might hppen in the feature it something you can theorize about, but that doesn't make it something that is happening now.

oh, so you don't even know anything about Java

Java has a badly designed type system which forced the existence primitive types to avoid bad performance, which cause all kind of problems. It also has no support for events, no first-class functions, no type inference for variables, no overloadable operators, some questionable design decisions concerning the == operator, and so on. Heck, it doesn't even have static classes. And its standard library is rather weird - java.util is a PHP-like kitchen sink. And the versioning system...ugh.

Yes, there are worse languages. But that doesn't make Java good.

No it really isn't, but come back to me when you know what enterprise is.

what enterprise would rely on it??? ones that are stuck in old ways....

there are some that still use dos for cryin out loud....

not a good reason to defend java.... are you gonna defend netscape enterprise server just becuase there are companies that still use it?

Well said Notch, though he may be too optimistic - I'd keep an eye on the goats. Another fine example of the mature dialogue that Neowin staff and management promotes while lambasting it in others. These series of articles have clearly catered more to emotion than facts. The wagon circling posts on a fight you picked by attacking his character, while not once actually demonstrating you understood his point to begin with, are only further example of this.

Tut tut.

So you just confirmed you don't have a clue about enterprise or enterprise computing.

If you think enterprise java is backwards, you need to get sme real education or just get out of IT.

I gave an example of an enterprise making a bad decision.... like you are in defending java when it's terribly flawed.

Just becuase a company uses it and "gets along fine" with it doesn't mean it's good.

they may say they are getting along fine with it to please shareholders or whatever when they really might hate it...

I'm sorry what? This post...is way out of my league of understanding.

Please be quiet next time, you'll seem smarter.

Do you even understand how sever the 0day exploits are for enterprises? Or are you just talking out of you ass? I'm guessing no and yes.

If he was smart, he'd give his fans what they really want. A game without Java.

Excuse my ignorance... But, if they rewrite Minecraft to get rid of the Java requirement will you retain the same "drop-in" functionality for mods and texture packs? I would think modding would become much more complicated.

There's other ways of doing that.

Wow this is all just silly to me. Really it is his program that he wrote. If he feels he does not want to certify it good. so what. Will it stop anyone from installing it on a new machine,...no... Anyone can still play it. He can always just make it for linux and see what comes from that.

Idiots here still don't understand his point. Moronity here goes like this: "He's so lazy, he won't cert it when even some tech journo derp Riviera managed to cert derp.png" -> tell them it's not about that -> "He's such a hypocrite, he put on 360 and iOS derp.png" -> tell them a PC is not a closed system -> "He's doing a disservice to his fans derp.png" -> tell them he has the right to do as he pleases with his company -> "He's a bad person and I don't like him derp.png"

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
    • Weekend PC Game Deals: Resident Evil, Mafia, Like a Dragon, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Weekend PC Game Deals is where the hottest gaming deals from all over the internet are gathered into one place every week for your consumption. So kick back, relax, and hold on to your wallets. The Epic concluded its mystery giveaways this week with another double freebie promotion. As a part of this, you can now grab Rogue Waters and Songs of Conquest to keep. On the same day, Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks will join in as the next freebie. Another Humble Choice offer was revealed earlier this week, bringing a refreshed eight-game selection to jump into. The June selection is Octopath Traveler 2, The Riftbreaker, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, INDIKA, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Construction Simulator, Hell Clock, and Overlooting to keep as Steam keys. The $15 bundle gives you all eight games from this month's Choice selection. The month-long promotion will come to an end on July 6, giving you ample time to decide on whether you want the titles. The Humble Store also brought in standard gaming collections this week. The IGN Live Bundle kicked things off with games like Control, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, Blair Witch, Rollerdrome, and The Last Campfire for $10. At the same time, the We Will Always be Here bundle carried in titles like Bad End Theater, Thirsty Suitors, Vampire Therapist, and Tavern Talk for $12.
