Are you sure of that ? Does the September 11 tragedy ring a bell for you ? They even used our own planes against us. With budget cuts, lax security who says they can't pull another attack ?

The issue there was America didn't use Primary radar to view the skies, only SSR. The terrorists simply switched off the SSR beacon and became invisible on the radars. Jets were scrambled for no reason because they didn't have a clue where to go. America learnt its lesson now and most major cities are viewed by a primary radar fee.

What? Where did you get that information from?

If you turn off your transponder you still show up on ATC radar, just instead of identifying information (altitude, N-number if it's mode-S etc) the controller will just see a '?' (or something similar). You don't disappear just because you turned off the transponder, the only way to do that is fly really low or be a stealth aircraft.

Sure you can scramble jets, but you can't just shoot down a commercial aircraft over the skies of a city. You'd just have a giant flaming ball of metal (+ shards of metal flying everywhere) falling right into the city.

I never thought it possible, but the posters on the American side in this thread are actually living down to my expectations. The "my c**k is bigger than yours because our military has a million billion nukes and were gunna blow yew commiez up" crap got boring a long time ago. I hope a reasonable solution can be found without the people on both sides having to lose their livelihoods.

Calm down hater, the two countries aren't going to war any time soon and no one really cares about who's side is better so relax.

Typical Americans, think they are all powerful... not even close.

And NO most countries do not think CANADA is part of the STATES, if anything, they'd think we were part of England I'd say.

We have absolutely nothing to do with the States, we are our own country.

It's Americans who think Canada is part of them, even though most of them probably couldn't even find Canada on a map.

Canada is the second biggest country in the world, Russia is first. Maybe Canada should ally with Russia... hint hint.

I don't and I don't give two @$#%'s about Canada either. Stay the hell up there, what brings my **** to a boil though is finding worthless

Canadian coinage. I mean wtf am I suppose to do with that? I can't spend it.

I vote no for russia for sure. USA may be egotistical, bullying, gun loving, violence prone a**holes, but they're our egotistical, bully, gun loving, violence prone a**holes.

I love the stereo type that we're egotistical but its usually always the brits coming out and telling us how good they are. But I digress, Canada maybe cold in the winter and they may have faux french people but damn it, they invented hockey so they're ok in my book.

If we're gonna talk about worthless coinage, at the moment 1 USD = 0.99 CAD. Just sayin'.

I also have the same question when I see American quarters and pennies in my coinage. But usually people accept them at par (except vending machines, of course).

Also about the White House being burned down - to be fair, it was the Brits who did that, and the Americans did succeed at burning down York (now Toronto). But that was 200 years ago.

Oh c'mon guys, stop bickering. Everyone knows that the U.S. and Canada won't go to war over a damn rock in the middle of the sea no mater how many lobsters are there.

At work, their ATC was apparently only using Secondary surveillance radar, not primary radar (the one that shows blobs of colour). Once they turned their beacon off, their ident numbers went off the radar and they couldn't be located.

We should send over our military force. It's one of the most well funded forces in the world, which is $10 in Canadian Tire money per year. We have beavers and polar bears in the army, Canadian Geese in the air force, and... well, apparently lobsters in the navy. F22's and nukes have nothing on us.

Don't forget about the Mounties!

Yeah thats bull****, the planes were tracked there's just very little the air-force could have done. Like I said if they tried shooting down the two planes over Manhattan the damage could (potentially) have been a lot worse.

Their identification would have disappeared since their transponders were off but they'll still show up (though instead of their number, it'll just be a ? or unknown or something). And half-wit can realize what plane it was since one minute it was showing information, the next minute it was just showing unknown. Doesn't take a genius to put the two together.

HA HA HA Most people don't even know Canada is a Country, they just think it's part of the US

On a more serious note, no Country has the destructive power we have, and there's no Country out there that could pull off a strike without us knowing it

Maybe in America where education is frowned upon. The rest of the world is fully aware of who we are.

    • Hello, I am not as familiar with AMD CPUs as I am with Intel's, but as I understand it, that's a mid-range CPU from about three years ago.  I would think it to be fine for everyday casual-type use.  A larger SSD might be better, but with storage prices these days that's a decision that has to be carefully thought about. • Ocenaudio 3.19.5 by Razvan Serea Ocenaudio is a full featured, fast and easy to use audio and music editor. It is the ideal software for people who need to edit and analyze audio files without complications. Ocenaudio also has powerful features that will please more advanced users. To assist ocenaudio development, a powerful toolset of audio editing, analysis and manipulation called Ocen Framework was created. ocenaudio is also based on Qt framework, a well known library for cross-platform development. Cross-platform support ocenaudio is available for all major operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Native applications are generated for each platform from a common source, in order to achieve excelent performance and seamless integration with the operating system. All versions of ocenaudio have a uniform set of features and the same graphical interface, so the skills you learn in one platform can be used in the others. VST plugins support Ocenaudio supports VST (Virtual Studio Technology) plugins, giving its users access to numerous effects. Like the native effects, VST effects can use real-time preview to aide configuration. Real-time preview of effects Applying effects such as EQ, gain and filtering is an important part of audio editing. However, it is very tricky to get the desired result by adjusting the controls configuration alone: you must listen the processed audio. To ease the configuration of audio effects, ocenaudio has a real time preview feature: you hear the processed signal while adjusting the controls. The effect configuration window also includes a miniature view of the selected audio signal. You can navigate on this miniature view in the same way as you do on the main interface, selecting parts that interest you and listening to the effect result in real time. Multiselection for delicate editions To speed up complex audio files editing, ocenaudio includes multi-selection. With this amazing tool, you can simultaneously select different portions of an audio file and listen, edit or even apply an effect to them. For example, if you want to normalize only the excerpts of an interview where the interviewee is talking, just select them and apply the effect. Eficient edition of large files With ocenaudio, there is no limit to the length or the quantity of the audio files you can edit. Using an advanced memory management system, the application keeps your files open without wasting any of your computer's memory. Even in files several hours long, common editing operations such as copy, cut or paste happen almost instantly. Fully featured spectrogram Besides offering an incredible waveform view of your audio files, ocenaudio has a powerful and complete spectrogram view. In this view, you can analyze the spectral content of your audio signal with maximum clarity. Advanced users will be surprised to find that the spectrogram settings are applied in real time. The display is updated immediately when altering features such as the number of frequency bands, window type and size and dynamic range of the display. Ocenaudio 3.19.5 changelog: Fixes crashes related to audio devices on Windows (DirectSound and ASIO) Fixes several crashes and memory corruption issues Fixes opening several headerless files at once, which previously dropped all but one Improves batch export by suggesting and remembering the destination folder Fixes accented and non-Latin characters in VST plug-in and compressed-archive file names Adds zstd compression support and updates the archive library Other bug fixes and improvements Download: Ocenaudio 64-bit | Portable | ~40.0 MB (Freeware) Download: Ocenaudio for Linux and Mac OS View: Ocenaudio Homepage | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • I did think about a Echo show once and it would be useful to see what my cameras see. But my brother got one and I changed my mind. Adverts and not really worth the price just to see my cameras. I have a load of dots and a Echo Gen 4, they will do.
