No it doesn't, they posted a teaser on youtube and it looks like its going to have a high nose but no step.

read my post again and turn your brain on. stepped nose + cover = no step in the nose ok?

You're a polite one aren't you.

Do you have schematics showing this or is it just your interpretation?

if you mean a drawing like seen from marca for the f2013 then my answer is no. but what i have is - knowing the reliability of newspapers like marca - better. guys on f1technical and autosport forums, following the car launches and developments for years (like i do) reached consensus in the following points for the mp4/28:

- pull rod front suspension

- higher nose with a step covered

why do we get this? because not only mclaren rised their nose after a few races in 2012 already following the path of others, its also a fact that with the high of the front wing and the rules for undertray and diffuser you would like to have as much air as possible flowing under the car not over it. plus button, their leading driver by now, basically said that mclaren should have a stepped nose as soon as possible.

with pull rod front suspension ferrari made a good choice in 2012 allowing for better weight distribution, lower drag and it also brings its advantages to get heat into the tires - it was blatantly obvious in the wet qualifyings in hockenheim or silverstone when alonso ran circles arround the others. mclaren said they checked this concept and sources i named above hint to the mp4/28 with pull rod front suspension.

besides that? passive ddrs like on the lotus (renault) and more compact rear design but thats something you can say every year about every car.

I'll definately be watching.

I did engage my brain, you might do well to do the same.

The nose doesn't droop lower, it looks as high if not higher than the top of the wheels which means there is no step in the nose and no cover on it.

Forgive my poor attempt at photoshop but it looks more like the following picture, if it had a "modesty cover" and a stepped nose the nose would be much lower:

Awesome bit of info and thanks for sharing it.

Hopefully, Lewis Hamilton (the best F1 driver currently alive) will not have the hassles and all the problems with his F1 car his season.

He will win in Australia and the world championships.

Sebastian Vettel is a nice boy and a great driver, however, toe-to-toe, pound-for-pound Lewis Hamilton is better.

I agree LH is one of the best drivers around - but don't think he'll be in contention for the WDC .. not this season and not in a Merc ...

this years mercedes will be designed by former ferrari technical director aldo costa, so not all hope is lost. if he can do what he did at ferrari (doubtful with the mercedes budget and with disturbing niki lauda on board) hamilton can fight for race wins.

Wishful thinking, don't think he realistically has a chance although I hope he does well.

I like how McLaren learnt from their mistakes in the pit lane where they cost the team a lot of points and ended up consistently posting awesome pitstop times. There was a lot of yelling at the TV until they did sort it though : D

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you are misjudged here, Lewis Hamilton is NO way the best driver currently alive. Statistics prove this if you need furthur proof.

To be honest, he shouldn't even be in F1 with his attitude and immaturity. He needs about 1 or 2 years away from F1 then come back and hopefully he'll be less cocky, but his personal life will always make him cocky, which is unfortunate for him as he has some potential he just doesn't know how to use it.

waiting for more and more detail shots in high res coming up by now every minute....

so far i like it. last year they had a good car no need to change much, and honestly, for a year like 2013 with stable rules they changed quite a lot on the car.

*waits till TheLegendOfMart confirms me being right with the aspects about mp4/28 discussed a bit earlier..."

clock is ticking! :D

What?

All I said was that it wouldn't have a stepped nose..........and it doesn't, there is no stepped nose and no modesty panel, I don't see any joins in the nose where the modesty panel would be.

Still waiting for an apology about telling me to turn my brain on.

nope. new car has a modesty panel, means it also has a stepped nose. it has to do with the hight of the chassis. if the chassis was as low as last years, no panel needed.

you denied it would have a stepped nose. pretty lame try to escape now.

The actual unveiling happened at 11:20 GMT, showing a car that is very similar to its predecessor. The car that was being launched displays a similar nose that is low enough not to need a step or a modesty panel.

http://www.f1technical.net/news/18110

The frotn of the chassis is raised to 625mm and the nose step is disguised under a modesty panel

source

makes more sense to me and honestly is refering to the rules and therefore should be trusted not some website claiming that the nose is similar to last year therefore not in need of a step or panel.

he knows what he is talking about, was also present at the mclaren launch.

but yeah i dont expect anything, you probably also claim the car has no engine since you cant see the engine

If I am wrong then I will admit it, the only speculation that it has a stepped nose is coming from one person and everyone else is repeating what the guy says.

You don't need to be an arse about it, this isn't a competition about who is right.

    • This is needed! Good to see them working on it. My solution up until now at work is to hide all MY folders, showing only the shortcuts, but linking my personal folders to the corresponding Libraries. Having this exposed in the Navigation pane of File Explorer means that I have easy nested access to my stuff, as well as all the shortcuts under the OneDrive folder when needed, often open as I only have about 10 or so linked sources.
