Explorer or File Manager HELP

Recommended Posts

Hey all

I have a problem, I'm trying to delete a folder in windows explorer, and explorer says the file is not in the location, but it can be clearly seen in the pic that it is, I've tried the old dos way of removing the folder, but can't because it says the directory is not empty, but it is, this is not a system file, I made it, it is purely a folder I made for storing pictures, web art, my wife's paintshop pro work, and amazon music.

I have now made new folders, recatagorising music, video, and pictures all into respective folders and sub folders.

The problem is the hard drive is 500GB, reformatting the hard drive is out of the question as my C: and E: drives are not big enough to house all those files

Does someone know how to delete this folder? I would prefer not to hide it if it can be deleted.

You created a folder called program files for storing pictures? That's a fairly strange name for such use.

I've seen stranger names. There was one student at university who thought '/tmp/boring/' to be a totally inconspicuous name for his porn downloading folder. (Located in /tmp because the quota wasn't enough for his downloading habits. The same guy would burn several DVDs full of crap every day.)

I get ya if trying to HIDE it, sure who is going to look in program files for porn. But he states

my wife's paintshop pro work, and amazon music.

Why would you use a folder called program files for such stuff?

yeah, it's a throwback from xp, and at the time I kept everything under program files, including the finished work my wife used to paint under that directory. I wont lie I was just too lazy to change it til ablout last year, I had only just noticed that the folder is now empty, so no longer needed.

All additional program files are now saved to e drive, I tried as much as possible to only have os on c.

Now everything is stored under documents and settings, administrator, my documents, <the appropriate foldername> sorry, I'm currently replying to you on my (now claimed by her) note, I can send screenshots later if you like :)

lol at the other replies, no my porn is kept in my documents, under adult. :p

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
