Boston Bombing Suspects - MIT Shooting - Manhunt

Recommended Posts

I was listening to CBS news AM 1080, and they clearly did mention it. I really do personally agree with cbs news though, martial law could help expedite finding the suspect. I dont believe its the same martial law that was like back in the 1800s that we all picture! It could be the only option, if all else fails!

Did I miss something? I didn't know there were different types of martial law.

Martial law is martial law, however it could be declared just for the Watertown area, not the entire state! It would help get the suspect ALOT faster!

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

Oh yeah?

Guantanamo Bay.

so many things wrong with your analogy..... 1) enemy combatants 2) seized in a foreign land 3) not arrested in the US territory

4. Illegal 5. against international law and human rights 6. hasn't resulted in any usable information just wasted taxpayer money.

From the webster dictionary!

Martial Law

": the law administered by military forces that is invoked by a government in an emergency when the civilian law enforcement agencies are unable to maintain public order and safety"

This is definitely an emergency because there is a terrorist on the loose, additionally civilian law enforcement agencies are unable to maintain order and safety, because they still have been unable to catch the suspect yet!

This may be a plausible option, if they fail to still catch him! They could just declare in Watertown, MA, not the entire state. It would arguably help expedite the process of catching him!

He's not a US citizen, he's Chechnian. If he's got a green card, that can easily get cancelled.

Then he is subject to the protection of the Constitution and Bill of Rights. My mistake - http://www.uscis.gov...000082ca60aRCRD

Why make this political? Is that what you dream of doing on Neowin? Especially hawkman and his constant anti US rants.

I'm not being political, I just know how the US tends to deal with terrorists. IF he's taken alive (which I doubt), I expect him to receive similar treatment. One thing he won't get is a fair trial.

honestly, does anyone ever get a fair trial? if you are tried in an area that covered your case in the media, more then likely there is someone either biased because of that, biased because they know you, or a number of other ways biased... you almost have to try every case in an area where you and the case is unknown to get a "fair" trial

UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters reported over Watertown & Cambridge. Must be the National Guard.

Wonder when they'll deploy the Apaches?

While I agree he likely wont be taken alive, I think the history of terrorist treatment is generally historical to non-citizens/foreign nationals

Blowing up a bomb was an act of war. He is an enemy, and should be treated as such.

It's not more an act of war than someone taking a gun and killing 10 persons in a mass shooting. As long as they did not have a political motivation it's an act by two crazy men.

    • (macOS) Screen zoom was broken for me in beta 1 and it's now working properly in beta 2. In terms of performance and UI design/consistency, these betas are already much better than Tahoe.
    • Less powerful than a PS5 at twice the price! I wonder if they use that for marketing? Totally DoA.
