Windows 8 Groupedit is Very Unfinished

Recommended Posts

You can edit policies meant for non-8 machines.

Trolling fail!

Windows 2000 is not supported therefore, Microsoft should have removed it. Who is using Windows 2000 still? This is not a trolling thread, I was curious why these options were in gpedit still.

Obsolete options will probably be removed about twenty years from now. Look how long it took for minor updates to Paint.

They are there because you could be editing a group policy on a domain that has machine's that are still running that old OS! just because you are in a GPO editor in windows 8 doesn't mean you can't connect to a domain and be editing a GPO that applies to an OU that has Windows 2k, windows xp, windows vista...... they can't just get rid of the options if people are still using them

Just because its not supported doesn't mean its not in use, you can't remove options that are available at the enterprise level out of no where... and if you did someone would jus reimport them with the correct ADM file from their domain... not to mention almost all the win2k GPO's are still applicable to Windows XP and windows vista

not to mention almost all the win2k gpo's are applicable to windows xp, vista and 7

Windows 2000 is still being used in some businesses, Microsoft saw fit to not remove 2000 specific policies.

Seriously, do a little research before you post this stuff.

Who is using Windows 2000? Are you in the real world? Where do you work. I have worked for a number of companies that I know use Win2k machines today. If you don't understand the reason and are asking why they are there that is fine but please think first before making statements like that. It does not make you come across well and dare i say silly.

That's BS and you know it

You've been doing nothing but trolling for a while now. It's very obvious, many others here have seen it and it's about time some mods take notice. You keep trolling and try to play dumb about what you're doing.

Seriously mods, take a look at his post history and you see he's clearly trolling. One second he hates Windows 8 and the next he loves it. One second he hates the start screen then makes a thread about how much he loves it and wants to show it off. He's a troll or seriously bi-polar. Either way he needs some mental help.

I have a feeling some neowin global moderator will close this thread soon. Perhaps I don't fully grasp Group edit yet, as I rarely use it.

Nope, nope and nope. 1. I like Windows 8, 2. I NEVER said I hated it, 3. I have been highly critical of it. 4. Personal attacks are inappropriate. 5. I like the start screen and I think its better than the start menu, 6 you're trolling, 7 what business is it for you know whether I am trolling or not, 8 Why should a moderator listen to you?, 9 Look through every thread I created, tell me where it says I hate Windows 8, 10, You could use anger management therapy, 12. what credentials do you have to say I need mental help thus have bi polar disorder?

Group Policy Editor is not really for your local machine, although it can be used for it, it is meant for as the name implies a group of users to assign a policy to in a domain environment, which can have any number of OS versions in it

You're right - 2000 now has a very low userbase. However, I know of a few instances where it is still used, mostly in manufacturing due to EOL software being on those machines. I've even done physical to virtual conversions of Win2000 machines and put that VM on new machines to continue using that old software. When you're dealing with stuff like that, it sometimes is easier just to use the old OS than to find replacement software.

Your post history says otherwise.

Show me the proof!

Here are the facts and just the facts!

1. I like Windows 8, and never hated it.

2. I have been critical of Windows 8

3. I am not trolling, and again, show me proof.

4. I was just curious about why the start menu was in gpedit, and I don't fully understand group edit as well.

5. I like the Start Screen and is necessary to move forward!

6. Posting irrelevant and inappropriate things such as personal attacks etc, on a thread is TROLLING!

1. Liar, your original set of posts were all calling out Windows 8.

2. If you are nothing but critical, that above is thoroughly disingenuous.

3. Yes you are. Proof is in the pudding.

4. THEN DON'T POST IT. You didn't post a question asking if it was wrong or what was going on.. You posted an assertion as to its quality.

5. /headdesk

6. Nope, this thread is trolling.

There hasn't been any ad hom'ing as of yet..

Go read your history. You've trolled Anti8 sentiment really hard.

I never said I hated Windows 8, perhaps you should sift through every thread and tell me where it says I hate it? Posting something other than that is related to this thread it trolling btw!

Global Moderators, I am strongly requesting this thread to be closed!

Maybe you should learn to read, I have never said you said that you hate it...

I was just curious about why the start menu was in gpedit, and I don't fully understand group edit as well.

Windows 8 Groupedit is Very Unfinished:

Apparently Microsoft missed this building Windows 8! There is no Start Menu in Windows 8 and a majority of these group edit options are defunct!

You made accusations about an app you don't understand, to further the Anti8 agenda. Trolling! You didn't ask any questions, that would be how a curious person normally acts.

Global Moderators, please close this thread now, or delete it. These irrelevant replies to this thread are getting out of hand!

I don't have any Anti-windows 8 agenda that you are imagining! You are technically trolling by posting a totally irreverent reply to this thread!

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.

    • That's not what I meant:) I like the tabs being above the URL bar, but previously the tab selection started from the top of the screen (y=0). So I could just quickly push my mouse up and done. Now I have to actually aim it just slightly below the top, because the tab is now a few pixels below the top. In other words, previously I only had to aim with my mouse horizontally, now I have to both vertically and horizontally. Super annoying.
