In the long-term, titanfall is going to be very useful for getting the xbox one additional sales.

Titanfall is a brand new IP, so it's going to take a while before more people get to know about the game and how great it really is.

And Halo 2 Anniversary, if it's a reality, will definitely push the x1 even more up.

Halo game has been confirmed for 2014 and its not Halo 5.. So most likely Halo 2 Anniversary.

I found it to be somewhat boring and more of the same...

I would assume that it's probably a good game, by FPS standards, but the FPS market is so saturated and overused that I rarely find myself interested in any of them anymore...

I really didn't care for the inclusion of bots at all and I thick it lacks depth in it's gamemodes.

Sprint, jump, fire, reload, talk ####, pad stats, repeat.

+ IMO, the majority of the people who strongly follow this genre are not enjoyable to interact with, especially on consoles.

There are exceptions to this of course, but the vocal XBL communiuty itself is a cesspool of ignorance and embarressment.

The early chaos that was Halo 2 was interesting and new. Since then, XBL has run itself thin with me. The bottom fell out long ago.

I played the PC beta to lvl 14 (initially I thought it might be a must-buy) + a few matches of the final game on a friend's X1.

It's a solid game. I'm sure to the FPS elitists, it's the next great thing. However, I wasn't impressed, it felt like a chore, none of my PC friends bought it, and we were all monitoring it.

Destiny approaches.

Yeah, this is great news, and not suprising. Seeing how Xbox One rocked the February NPD as well, it's clear that the Xbox One is an excellent gaming machine and gamers want it. It just keeps getting better and better for gamers.

Some other things I've noticed:

Kills don't always show up on the score board, especially late in the game (during the escape, I've noticed that my kills or deaths don't always show up).  I just had a match that showed I had 1 kill and 0 deaths but I really had 3 kills and 1 death.

Campaign missions really do seem much more difficult to win vs classic mp matches.  No clue why this is.

Party chat is fubar'd.  I have no idea what Microsoft did but party chat has tons of issues and rarely works correctly.

The AI in the game for grunts and specters is MUCH better than it was in the beta, which makes me think they may have had it turned off or dumbed down greatly.  As embarrassing as it is, I've been killed by specters and grunts more times than I care to admit.

I haven't had any party chat issues. Been working flawlessly here. Campaign is just online matches of hardpoint and attrition. There isn't any difficulty. They just through in some audio/video dialog.

As for AI, they seem the same to me as they were in the beta. But I could be wrong.

I'm sure one of the 'scenes' will soon come out with a shrunken version, with compressed audio, textures, cutscenes and all the unnecessary language files ripped out weighing around 20GB and it will also run just fine on older PCs. In this game, pirates are always one step ahead and illegal downloaders have it much better than legit buyers.

However, why would they bother?

First off, it's MP-only (thus absolutely worthless to crack, let alone invest extra work in).  So far there has been ONE (half-hearted) attempt at an alternative drop (by the 'scene'), and they by and large got it wrong, as when decompressed it did not match up with the legit version in any way/shape/form - and there have been no attempts since.

Still, despite the size (PC version, that is) and the price, it is selling, and selling at a decent clip for any shooter, let alone one from EA.  (Gee - I wonder why.  Could it be the system requirements - which, despite x64-only, are in the wheelhouse of more PCs than even Crysis 2, let alone Crysis 3?)

That's impressive, though if rumored numbers are correct, still less than the PS4

Goes to show what a great game can do though

Rumors where "double" or rather that was sony's claim, rumors where 150-160k vs 260-280. This would put it in line or over the rumored PS4 numbers.   either way they're both selling small numbers now in the low season untill next holiday season, and they're both doing decent numbers for the non holiday sales for a brand new console.

Those were in the US, not the UK. By 'rumors' I really meant vgchartz, which I don't consider particularly reliable, but it's just about all we have.

what's so good, the game is fun to play and enjoyable to and al that ?Try it before you flame bait ?

You got me wrong this time, I'm not flaim baiting but almost 100% more sales due to one game that's fun to play..seems a bit over the top for me. Maybe it's just me tho.

The increase in sales is because people have been waiting for the console to have a bigger library of games they want to play. add another Triple A game to a relatively small pot and you increase the reasons to buy the system a LOT and a lot more people are tipped over the edge.

Then there's the increased availability. MS created bundles which makes people want to buy, there was the special Titanfall console which some people want, and MS probably saved up some of their production stock and shipped extras to the best selling stores in anticipation for the launch.

overall it's called a market strategy and all together, it can cause a major sales increase. Same thing Sony does when they double their sales on the launch of an anticipated platform AAA title.

eh VGChartz is often so wrong they don't even reach rumor status.

Oh god, never go by Vgchartz numbers. That site is banned from most forums.

Also, let's not forget that MS put together a pretty decent price on that bundle.

My question would be, if the biggest game for Xbox One this year doesn't support Kinect, how important is Kinect then?

What's this even got to do with Kinect? Just because Kinect is there, doesn't mean it should be shoe-horned in to every game for the sake of it.

Here is where we get the everlasting stalemate. Put Kinect in and people complain. Leave it out and they still complain.

So what's so good about Titanfall anyway? Am I missing something? Or people actually bought into the articles posted over the net how the "new magic cloud" is making this game THE BEST!!!1 GAME THIS YEAR?

Struggling to understand why you would feel that people buying a game they are enjoying is wrong, really cant wrap my head around this?

Kinect isn't "just there". It's the main reason Xbox is $100 more. So yes, it's not much to expect this $100 feature to be a part of many games, at least the ones touted as GOTY.

    • NirLauncher 1.30.24 by Razvan Serea NirLauncher is a suite of more than 200 of NirSoft's excellent portable freeware Windows utilities, and provides an interface that makes it easy to find and launch the tools you need. Which works for us - because there's something here for everyone. Have you forgotten a password stored in your browser or email client, for instance? Recovery tools here may be able to find them for you. Maybe you'd like to check your hard drive health? A disk tool will display its S.M.A.R.T. data (if the drive supports this), so you can view read/ write errors, temperature and other useful details. Is your system unstable? The System Utilities section includes several tools that can help to explain why your PC might be crashing. And there are a host of other programs on offer in categories like "Network Monitoring", "Web Browser Tools", "Video/ Audio Related Utilities", "Outlook/ Office Utilities" and more. Please note, perhaps because a few of these tools can be used maliciously (the password revealers, say), some antivirus programs will flag them as threats. We've never had a problem with any NirSoft tool, though, and you can read more on this issue at the author's site. NirLauncher is an excellent set of free tools, and a must-have for everyone's portable troubleshooting toolkit. NirLauncher Features: NirLauncher can be used from USB flash drive without need of any installation. NirLauncher and all the utilities in the package are completely freeware, without any Spyware/Adware/Malware. This package doesn't contain any 3-party software, toolbars, Web browser plugins, or other unwanted surprises. It will not install any software on your system and it will not change your Web browser homepage or other settings on your system. NirLauncher package includes variety of tools that you may need for your daily computer use, including utilities to recover lost passwords, to monitor your network, to view and extract cookies, cache, and other information stored by your Web browser, to search files in your system, and more... For every utility in the package, you can easily run it, view the help file, or jump to the Web page of the utility. When using it from USB flash drive, the configuration of every utility is saved into .cfg file on the flash drive. On x64 systems, NirLauncher automatically run the x64 version of the utility, when there is a separated x64 version. NirLauncher also allows to add more software packages in additional to the main NirSoft package. NirLauncher allows you generate plugin files for BartPE (Launcher -> Generate BartPE Plugin Files), so you can easily use the utilities of NirSoft from a bootable live windows CD. Additional packages (Piriform, SysInternals...) and instructions are available on the Nirlauncher download page. Note: This zip file below is password-protected. • What people who support this position of LibreOffice do not understand is that EuroOffice is not made to appease the open source enthusiasts (I am also one) and evangelists. EuroOffice was made because some European companies wanted independence from Microsoft Office Suite, which is something installable on your computer. This move to independence was pushed by public institutions and governments in Europe, as well. Using a proprietary FORMAT as default, does not make you dependent on MS. The actual program does. A format can be changed with a simple update in the future in a dystopian world where MS would manipulate the format to lock others out. However, using MS Office proprietary format, guarantees that all the current documents used by companies, organizations, institutions, etc, will be compatible with EuroOffice and the suite will have the best chances at adoption, especially by slow moving organizations like governments and the public sector. It is as simple as that. For the same reason, even the UI is incredibly similar to MS Office. For the same reason (adoption) the choice was made to be open source. Not because EU particularly loves open source ideologically, but because it gives the best starting point to create trust in the project and amass developers and contributions to the project quickly, to catch up with proprietary projects like MS Office. I don't understand how people don't realize it.
