With production on Batman vs. Superman scheduled to begin next year in his alma mater's home state, film producer and Eastern Michigan University grad Wesley Coller spoke today with M Live regarding the much-anticipated Man of Steel sequel.

?[My daughter?s] favorite book is this little Wonder Woman flip book,? Coller says of the recent announcement that Gal Gadot will be portraying the Amazon princess. ?It has the lasso, the invisible plane, the bracelets ? every page has an image she?s just in awe with. And something that?s become a reality, being a dad with a new daughter, is that I have a special place in my heart for the idea of a strong, empowered female superhero being out there.?

As for a future spinoff film featuring the character, Coller says fans may have a bit longer to wait.

?We?re super excited to have her in the film," he says. "It will be a ton of fun, but at the same time, we?ve got to stay focused on the film we?re working on now.?

Coller also addressed some of the more negative comments regarding Ben Affleck being cast in the Batman role.

?Anything you do that?s culturally significant," he says. "or any time you deal with an iconic character or story, you?re going to hear responses from every possible perspective? If anything, that gauges the relevance of a property or character, and it?s invigorating to know people care that much. It inspires you to make the coolest version of the movie that you can. Ben is the perfect fit for Zack?s vision for this story.?

Gal Gadot Talks Wonder Woman Casting Reaction, Cup Size, Training And More

Where were you when you heard the news that you?d been cast as Wonder Woman?

I was just on my way to shooting at LA. I landed at NY in a connection flight when my agent, Hadass Lichtenstein, called me. She says to me ?Wonder Woman!? and I?m like ?What??? ? ?The role is yours!?and it?s a secret and the news are not yet announced and you can?t tell anyone??. I?m saying to her ?Are you serious???- and we both scream! Now it?s a plane from Israel to NY and I can?t make loud noise, and so I lean on a window, bending down to my legs, and just try to understand. Long story short ? I was totally alone in NY, I got to a hotel at 12 pm, I needed to wake up in the morning for shootings. I remember laying in the darkness by myself, staring at the ceiling, and I was telling myself ?It?s not real!??it shouldn?t be like that, I?m supposed to be like? ?where?s the champagne??.

It?s been said that you?re too skinny for the part. Wonder Woman is large-breasted, is that going to change?

Hmm. I represent the Wonder Women of the new world. Breasts? anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is amazonian, and historically accurate amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I?d really go ?by the book??it?d be problematic.

So you?re not going to gain a little weight and start eating carbs before filming begins?

It?s the physical preparations that I?m starting now. A very serious training regime ? Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian?1,000 and 1 things?I?ll gain body mass.

Is this Man of Steel discussion thread, or DC comics in general?

All the stuff discussed Wonder Woman, Flash etc are all related to the film as they are going to appear

She certainly did do her homework - Amazons had one breast removed so as to clear a bowstring. To this day female (and a few male) archers use a leather shield over one breast to restrain/shield it.

Given the speed of modern compound bows (350-400fps) it's more necessary now than then.

Someone should fix the thread title then. This is all news to me.

I thought only Batman is going to make an appearance, just like the title says.

That's because at the time we only knew Batman would be involved. The title is still relevant though because it's mainly going to be about Batman an Superman as far as we know now :)

They're going the right way about it and I'm now thinking she's a great fit for the Wonder Woman role.

The extent of her in the movie isn't known yet, or others for that matter, it's still going to be heavily a Superman movie with more Batman than WW or Flash and so on, imo.   I think with more DC heros being in, with smaller cameo type roles that MoS2 or w/e they call it, we'll see a big setup towards the end of the movie for a JL movie after.

Agree. The movie is about superman. HOWEVER i don't think ben affleck will allow for little amount of screen time,I do see the others being just tie in with Justice League.

Just so everyone has a current point of reference, and because Superman's new movie uniform is close to the current comic storyline, here's the New 52 version of Wonder Woman. In New 52 she no longer stands eye-to-eye with Superman but is a few imches shorter..

Denzel Washington Considered For Green Lantern In "Batman vs Superman"

According to our source, the ?Training Day? actor is being considered for the role of Green Lantern John Stewart instead. If this proves to be true, Green Lantern will join an ever growing list of members from DC?s Justice League of America that also include Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

Why not just call it a Justice League film at this point? Too many heroes for a Man of Steel film. Not to keen on the fact that they're considering Denzel Washington either. Idris Elba would be a much better fit.

I have to admit.. I'm starting to wonder (not intentional) if the whole "Superman vs Batman" hype was a red herring all along.

Yeah I am wondering the same really

Denzel is too old to play John Stewart.

Shemar Moore of Criminal Minds has the intensity, physique and youth to play John Stewart. His part on CM is also a former Marine, like Stewart, and he has it down.

The problem with this particular choice, and that of those calling Gina Carano for Wonder Woman, is that while both have the physical attributes; neither has the acting skills.

And Denzel is too ######ing old. Idris Alba would have made a better choice. And while we're at, why not just call it "Justice League"?

I like what I am hearing from her. She seems smart and has done her homework. Now all I want is more meat on her bones.

I wouldn't consider a not-so-unknown fact about Amazon women as doing her homework, but I digress.

She mentions being by the book, but let's be honest here, she's not representing Amazon warriors from Greek mythology per say, she's representing Wonder Woman from the comics. She's a model first, actress second, so I take her "I'll gain body mass" quote with skepticism.

And now Green Lantern? I doubt WW, Flash and GL's involvement will be great, but it keeps looking more like Justice League #1 of the New 52. It also sounds like WB and DC Comics still doesn't know how they want to handle their franchises. Marvel has set a superb example of planning ahead, so what gives DC Comics?

I think that after Sups and Bats butt heads (similar to their meeting in the 1980's Man of Steel #3, 'One Night In Gotham City') there'll be a major threat, Darkseid has been rumored, and heroes will come out of their closets, put aside their differences and meet it in Act III. See the first 2 episodes of the Justice League animated series as your guide, but rougher.

    • Opinion. All you did was blame Democrats for everything. You offered nothing but a hit piece to support your pro Trump, anti union right wing ideology.
    • Excuse me for having an opinion, fella'... (Why am I not surprised?...) Congrats on your very informative post however...
    • By the sounds of that wall of Fox News propaganda gibberish attacking the Democratic Party you've already had plenty of "juices" flowing this morning. You've ruined what could have been a productive comment thread.
    • (Topic to get the juices flowing this Sunday morning!...) Actually, the situation has almost nothing to do with "lack of skills", especially since assembly-line skills can be taught to anyone, including Americans, certainly. Rather, the inadequacy-to-impossibility of large-scale tech manufacturing in America today, and the reasons why America finds tech manufacturing completely onerous in the 21st century, has to do with politically driven laws amid a plethora of non-scientific, utterly politicized "science-fact" that is patently false, punitive business taxation at every turn, an array of judicial fines of unimaginable scope and complexity, and, last but not least, American unionization strictures that serve to actually slay job creation and hobble all such manufacturing endeavors in America before they can get off the ground. Globalism emerged, they tell us, as the needed answer to American hubris and an unholy American drive to excel. Unless one is buried under mounds of political propaganda, it's easy to see the absurdity of labeling the employees of SpaceX, for instance, as "unskilled labor"... Etc. ad infinitum. At one time in the recent past, American manufacturing prowess was the envy of the world in a wide variety of technical fields! The current federal and state government roadblocks against America becoming competitive globally in tech manufacturing are considerable, it's true, as anyone with a working brain knows. But remarkably, that is only half the story! The other half of the story is, of course, the corporations themselves... Chinese tech manufacturing is simply unassailable in terms of profits, because the Chinese government wants to see its tech manufacturing second-to-none globally so that no companies/nations can compete in terms of ROI, and China has completely succeeded in that goal. Let's tic-off a few things: *Chinese tariff policies are set according to what is considered best for Chinese business, Chinese employees, and the Chinese people. Huge difference with how things are done with tariffs in the US--as the US government (SCOTUS in this case, Congress in others) plainly feels that tariffs are "unfair" for the limited number of citizens who may pay them, whereas nothing is "unfair" when Congress considers the Personal Income Tax rates to be infinitely hike-able, along with infinitely enlarging annual budget deficits. *The Chinese government boldly subsidizes Chinese companies to artificially amplify their profits. *The Chinese government deliberately refuses to avidly demonize Chinese businesses and does not consider Chinese businesses "the enemy", so very unlike American (D)s these days. *Chinese labor laws and businesses are allowed to set their own labor policies according to what Chinese companies consider is best for companies and their employees... Simply put, American workers in tech manufacturing are not allowed to set their own labor policies! * One additional problem corporations have that I also do not sympathize with is they don't want to pay to train their American employees. They could easily do so, but would rather not have to pay for it. I find that pathetic, actually. It is the height of hypocrisy for Americans to decry working conditions in China while simultaneously ensuring that American products are manufactured in China, not in the US, simply to maximize profits. There is nothing wrong with making a profit, of course, absolutely nothing. But there is plenty wrong with attempts to normalize hypocrisy of this kind! But rank hypocrisy and the (D) party in the US are longtime bedfellows... The current government in Washington is working overtime to see if it can toss out the horribly poor, failed economic policies of the past, while the (D)s still in Washington work very hard to bring back the stupidity whenever possible. With the right policies in place, America can be an infinitely competitive manufacturer.
