Man of Steel sequel to feature Batman (and others) (2016)

I don't see why the internets is imploding because Jesse was cast as Lex. He's an "actor" (an academy award nominated actor no less) and can you know, do this thing called, "act".

Not concerned in the least with either his casting or the Affleck Batman. Now Snyder's directing is another story.

Cranston was obvious choice but everything about this film so far as been far from obvious

I was hoping it was Cranston, but oh well. We still get some sort of Eisenberg. haha

Jesse Eisenberg As Lex Luthor & Jeremy Irons As Alfred

BURBANK, CA, January 31, 2014 ? Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Jesse Eisenberg has been set to star as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons will play Alfred in the upcoming Zack Snyder untitled Superman/Batman film. The dual announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Snyder stated, ?Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman?s rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What?s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He?s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.?

The director added, ?As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne?s most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious fa?ade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.?

Snyder?s film stars Henry Cavill, reprising his role as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. The film also reunites ?Man of Steel? stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

The new film is currently being written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

The film is set to open worldwide on May 6, 2016, and is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, Batman characters created by Bob Kane, and Wonder Woman created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.

LOLWUT?

So many questions, and almost all of them are "Why?". This movie has turned into such a cluster****. They seriously just need to stop production on this and come back to it in 10 years.  I can't wait to see which is the bigger flop: this film or X-Men: Days of Future past.

I don't know why I'm surprised. It's DC and Warner. They effing suck, and can't hold a candle to Marvel and Disney. They got luck with Christopher Nolan.

Eddie Murphy is Cyborg.

Michael Cera is Martian Man Hunter

Jack Black is Green Lantern

At this point I've given up pretty much all hope that this will be good and will just have to settle for enjoying it as the trainwreck most of us can see heading faster towards the washed-out bridge.

It's clear that Warner Bros. does not have a Kevin Feige-type executive watching over this and they want their DC answer to Avengers as fast as Snyder can get it for them.

What happened to the casting director who helped him come up with pretty good super-hero choices for Watchmen? A too skinny & small Amazon princess and a too young & meek titan of industry. What's next, Louis C.K for The Flash and Dwayne Johnson for Aquaman?

I saw him in a movie recently and I'm not sure you're right. I just find him annoying.

I'm not concerned about Affleck's Batman and I hardly was when I first read about it. Jesse as Lex though, that's another story. He just doesn't look like a Lex Luthor to me. Plus, it always looks as if he's playing the same character but with a different name. But I feel I've spoken enough negative things about the casting, so I'm going leave it at this :p

Lex is supposed to look like a scientist / genius though, since that's what he is. While I would have loved Cranston as Lex, he's a bit old for what they are going for apparently, and doesn't fit the character space as much. Remember, Lex doesn't just buff up and become some super powered Doomsday or something. Plus, he doesn't get his cybernetic enhancement armor for quite awhile in the comics, I doubt he'd just magically appear for the first time in this new series of Superman movies with it :P

So is Jonah Hill.

Because we a lot of us have preconceived notions of who fits these characters and who doesn't. Arnold Schwarzenegger is an actor too, does that mean he was a good choice for Mr. Freeze? (Yes, I realize writing for Batman & Robin was bad too, but so was Arnold.)

Just because they are actors doesn't mean they fit how WE view the character(s). If we go based on your notion that anyone who can act can play any character (which, while is a generalization, does seem to fit your comment), then we can assume anyone can play a major character like James Bond; so maybe it should Arnold Schwarzenegger? or maybe get Ashton Kutcher to play Bond?

Maybe you don't have a problem, but I don't see why people can't have an opinion about this? It isn't like we haven't seen these actors and know their abilities and know these characters and what they're about.

So many nay-sayers here making things up and putting out assumptions based upon stuff they can't back-up

If you look at Jesse's films he plays the same sort of character in each one of them so to say he's not suited for Lex is somewhat justified but he could radically change for this role agreed but I just don't see it

Are you for real? You're going to take a clearly hyperbolic/facetious comment and try to spin it into something serious! Don't be an idiot. I know it's tempting.

This reminds me of when Heath Ledger was cast as Joker and Michael Keaton as Batman.

Oh don't give me that. How about the all the other miscast characters? Arnold as Mr. Freeze, Anna Hathaway, Chris O'donnel, Halle Berry just to name a few.

Are you for real? You're going to take a clearly hyperbolic/facetious comment and try to spin it into something serious! You're a riot.

Of course it's hyperbole - but justify it...  Creative casting has become something of a commonplace thing in comicbook movies.

On paper, the casting of Ryan Reynolds for Green Lantern kinda made sense - I could sorta see it.

On paper, the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker seemed really odd - couldn't visualise it.

So making such comments as writing off an entire genre due to casting you disagree with?  You seem to be the riotous one.

I don't have any problem with an opinion on something that's already happened in movies etc, but this hasn't happened yet.

There's been plenty of movies where people have been miscast and did amazing jobs in whatever role (and no, nothing comes to mind at the moment, sorry).

Look at the Tom Hiddelston as Loki thing. A lot of people didn't want him as Loki. Now most can't see Loki as anyone else. Just saying.

As for Arnold as Freeze etc, hey he was miscast only in that the entire movie was a cluster ###### of bad everything pretty much. If the script was there he could have been fine. We know he can do comedy stuff, just not bad comedy stuff.

This is would imply that every odd casting choice is another Heath Ledger, and that is not simply not the case. Heath had done quite a few different roles before the Joker and had shown his range. Ryan Reynolds and Jessie Eisenberg play the same characters in every. single. movie. There is no range there.

Are you seriously going to tell me that Gal Gadot is the best choice for WW, and that she has the background and experience? No, you wouldn't. It's a bizarre casting choice.

And you know it's not another HH how?

I am going to tell you this:  GG is the best choice for WW in the directors vision, yes!  And you cannot really argue that.

Because he doesn't have the range. He plays the same character in ever movie. No range at all. Yeah well the director's vision isn't all that great he cast GG and Esienberg. Especially since Cranston and Joaquin Phoenix were in the ruining for that role.

    • AltSendme 0.4.1 by Razvan Serea AltSendme is a minimal, cross-platform application designed for fast, secure, and private peer-to-peer file transfers. It allows users to send files or entire directories directly between devices without relying on cloud servers, accounts, or any personal information. Everything is encrypted end-to-end using modern protocols like QUIC and TLS 1.3, ensuring both strong security and low-latency performance. Transfers are verified with BLAKE3 for data integrity, and interrupted downloads automatically resume, making the experience reliable even on unstable connections. You can transfer anything—images, videos, documents, and more. Integrity checks are performed on both ends, so your files are automatically verified for correctness during both sending and receiving. AltSendme works seamlessly across local networks or long-distance links, capable of saturating multi-gigabit connections for extremely fast delivery. With built-in NAT traversal and encrypted relay fallback, it connects devices almost anywhere. The app integrates with the Sendme CLI and will soon support mobile and web platforms. Fully free and open-source, AltSendme offers a lightweight, privacy-first alternative to traditional cloud-based services, removing size limits, upload costs, and unnecessary data exposure. AltSendme 0.4.1 changelog: Release Highlights Self-hosted relays: Run your own iroh relay so transfers don't rely on public infrastructure. Includes a full deployment template in deploy/relay/ with Docker Compose for a VPS and configuration examples for production use. Fly.io support: One-click deploy template for Fly.io, including a quick-start config (fly.dev.toml) for testing without a custom domain, plus production setup with Let's Encrypt and your own hostname. Relay settings UI: New Settings → Network panel to choose how AltSendme connects: automatic public relays, custom self-hosted URLs (with optional auth token), or disabled. Test connections, verify latency, and see live relay status in the footer. Disable relays: Turn off relay servers entirely when you only need same-network transfers (e.g. LAN). • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
