Tech issues solved added in tech forums

The problem is that in certain places is doesnt really make sense...For example, the Gamers section.

There is only ONE thread that has a "Solved" possibility: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1185305-battlefield-4-how-to-engage-helicopter/ out of all current threads in the first page.

Disabled in Gamers' Hangout, it's back to post count.

Agreed, much much happier with the way it's going now. Thank you to all who listened to the feedback. (Y)

This is getting to a Windows 7 vs Windows 8/8.1 debate..

Except in this case, they've provided an in-house solution to suit both parties.

Hello,

Disabled in Gamers' Hangout, it's back to post count.

Awesome :) If there is another section I see that is "debatable" if it truely is a solved or unsolved section, Ill comment on it.

Thanks Steven (and the devs of course) for listening to Neowin and implementing some changes that pleases everyone. :)

Juts something I noticed...

Is it going to be allowed to mark your answer as the best answer if you asked the question?  I posted an issue in the Hardware forum and I ended up finding the answer myself.  I cannot mark my post as the Solved one.

Submit a report of your topic with a link to the specific post. I went ahead and marked your post as the best answer. (Y)

Thanks.  But will it be allowed to mark your own post as best in the thread you created?

No. That was removed to prevent people from abusing it.

But.... I was working my way up there

I was almost at a wopping 1000 post count and wanted everyone to notice, and on top of that I wanted to thrill everyone by posting it so at least 1000 other people could give me kudu?s on my very impressive post count, and so they could advance their count by one.

This is most likely one of the reasons for the change. Just want I want to see is all those new posts giving kudu?s to someone for their less than impressive post count.

Let's see if it helps...

Maybe I spoke too soon. I am now seeing post counts again?

Hello,

OK, another question/suggestion.

We have several pinned topics in the tech support area. When there are "pinned topics" really there is no best answer.

This is nitpicking and really post/answer being shown doesnt matter but just saying to keep that in mind :)

OP can no longer mark own post as the answer (on fast reply) it was already disabled but still showed when the OP fast replied. https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1186983-ipb-34-hide-marked-solved-button-on-ajax-reply/

    • Apart from a few very specific hiccups, Windows 11 has been good for me. Rock solid and stable. Unpopular opinion, I know, but it's mine.
    • No. Windows 8 had little to no spywhare, is actually faster than 7 but it has the dreaded start screen, nothing that you could not fix with start8. Windows ME crashed often, but was shotlived and replaced by XP, which is a much better windows in itself.
    • Windows 8 was uninspiring but it was fine / worked. It was just overshadowed by how great Windows 7 was. Windows ME seem to be just unstable for most people - I was using Windows 2000, which was far superior. The two best versions are Windows 7 and 2000
    • I don't think ME was that bad. The stability issues were mostly caused by drivers. This was when the switch from vxd to wdm was happening. The other complaint was not being able to shut down into DOS anymore which was silly with XP right around the corner.
    • As much as I hated Windows 8, although I never used it personally on any of my own machines, I think Windows Me was hands down the worst OS from MS. I have Windows 11 on 2 unsupported machines and haven't had any issues and I actually kind of like it. Still hate how slow Windows updates are though.
