Guys need some help.

I am not getting internet on my Android phone.I have connected to a Wi-Fi network at my home and it is showing connected in phone.

But Internet is not available.I am sure that i have given correct security key for wi-fi,I am connected to same Wi-Fi from my laptop where it is working fine.

Please help.

I would call  your ISP.

Reboot modem and wifi router.

This often fixes my wifi problems.

It is a local issue not an ISP related cos I am getting internet on my lappy from that Wi-Fi connection.

Check your DNS settings on your Wifi Settings for the Android. It may be a DHCP problem.

^ I have had exactly that happen.

One device is running fine, the other stuffs up.

Reboot fixed all.

Good luck to you.

Hello,

Wow, some of you guys are over the top.

HoodiBoY, download a terminal (Terminal Emulator comes to mind)

Type "ping 8.8.8.8" without quotes and enter.

Lets see if it replies or not.

Check your DNS settings on your Wifi Settings for the Android. It may be a DHCP problem.

Finally someone has good advice...

Also, I assume you've already tried rebooting the device?

Is it running a custom ROM, or stock?

Which Android device in particular is it?

I would try all of the home stuff before phoning your ISP. In my time of dealing with home connections, I don't think I've ever had to ask my ISP to do something on their end.

Hello,

How to check that DNS Settings.??

If you do my post, we can more or less figure your DNS settings ourselves:

HoodiBoY, download a terminal (Terminal Emulator comes to mind)

Type "ping 8.8.8.8" without quotes and enter.

Lets see if it replies or not.

Before anyone gets inteligent, he would have to download it using his cell data connection.

Hello,

As already mentioned ... DNS ... or else some wrong info could be added into the proxy settings of the connection.

He mentioned this:

Tried changing DNS address.I gave DNS 1: 8.8.8.8, DNS 2: 8.8.4.4

Still no luck. :(

But I still want to see a ping...Once that is out of the way, we can move on.

Device : Sony Xperia Sola

ROM : Stock ROM

And what version of Android is running on it? ICS, Jelly Bean, Kit Kat?

I notice that there was a bug in ICS for the Sony Xperia Sola that caused the wifi to hang. I don't know if they fixed the issue themselves, but a workaround was offered so long as people's phones were rooted. Link. It may be completely unrelated to this issue though, especially if you're running a more updated version of Android than ICS.

I have rooted the phone and Android version is 4.04 ICS

Hello,

I have replied 3 times (this being my forth). If you really wanted to solve the problem, you would try my advice out as once we get that established, we can then check out your ip configuration exactly and see what is going on.

You dont want help? You are on your own. Hope Nick H. can help you.

Sorry for the late reply.

As you told I installed terminal emulator.

This is the output  when pinging 8.8.8.8

From 192.168.1.1 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable

From 192.168.1.1 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable

But it is working fine when i connect to other Wi-Fi networks.

I asked you about that in my first post and didn't get a reply, so I was just continuing with the troubleshooting. ;)

So if I'm correct, you're connected to your wireless but the ping reply to 192.168.1.1 says Destination Host Unreachable? Hmm...that's not right. Let me do some more searching.

Incorrect; 192.168.1.1 is (very surprising) his IP address on his mobile phone! If you do a,

ip addr show wlan0

It shows you your wireless IP on Android.

OK, Im ASTONISHED to see that your mobile phone's IP is 192.168.1.1 ; This is not usual AT all and I think there is your main problem.

What is your router's IP address?

In phone i checked Wi-fi network settings.

There i can see 192.168.1.1 is the default gateway ip.

    • UK funds £60M AI labs to challenge US tech dominance with open-source models by Paul Hill The UK government has awarded £60 million to Oxford University and University College London to help keep the country in the AI race by focusing on open-source, low-hardware alternatives. This is in stark contrast to the expensive, closed-source, and high-hardware-requirement models being created in the United States and elsewhere. The money will be shared among two new academic research labs over six years to help them redesign the fundamental mathematics and architectures of AI to help the UK reduce its reliance on a handful of US tech firms. Commenting on the development, AI Minister Kanishka Narayan said: Initially, the government planned to fund just one lab with a £40 million investment, but with this update, two labs will now get access to a larger pool of funds. The labs are expected to invest in the top AI researchers at every career stage, with £2 million per lab being set aside for hiring at least ten doctoral students. The government hopes that this will grow the UK’s talent in the field of AI. The labs are also expected to work closely with the leaders in British AI research, such as the Alan Turing Institute and UKRI’s AI research hubs. This will allow the various teams to collaborate and create new solutions faster than they could alone. This development is pretty interesting for a number of reasons, chiefly that it could create a long-term challenge for US tech firms if these labs successfully scale these open-source architectures that bypass the proprietary ecosystems. It could also give British businesses and public sector organizations access to AI features without paying high licensing fees to foreign providers or needing to invest in specialized server infrastructure.
    • If I were them, I'm gonna hold out until the prices of these semiconductor parts normalize. $1,049 for a ~5 year old hardware is DoA, more so for gamers. On a deeper note, if Steam Machine is priced like this, we are soo effed up for the next gen Xbox console and PS6. With great AAA titles releasing at the end of the year, this just creates more demand...and more tears for me. Lol.
    • I suspect one reason its hard to justify subsidising is that it's not a locked down device like a traditional console is. In this climate sadly if it was a "good deal" you'd get people hoarding them for anything but gaming. The Lenovo Legion Go 2 with the Ryzen Z2 Extreme is £1300 here ($1720) for some context on how other SteamOS like devices are now priced. I got the older Z1 Extreme model for £300 with a dock, just shows how insane prices have got recently.
