Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Recommended Posts

Some people I follow who have been to early screenings say it's good while others say it's bad so I'm not sure what to think.

A couple of the common criticisms were that Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luther was a terrible decision and Ben Affleck makes a good Batman.

if you want to depend on reviews for what to think then i'd at least wait to see what the majority say about it and not just 2 or 3.  I personally don't put much faith into reviews for movies, everyone is different, i'll know myself when I see it.

39% on Rotten Tomatoes.  This dude gave, what I think, is a funny review.  Just a snippet of it...

In Affleck’s case, this focus on a small facial region is emphasised more than usual. In some scenes he wears a bulky tin can suit — as if constructed from old metal rubbish bins — and his eyes have been replaced by bright blue electric slits that glow like hyper-powered lava lamps.

Affleck’s bottom lip gives a solid performance, dominant but not overtly showy, channelling the spirit of lone warrior jawbones from John Ford films. It is supported by a sturdy stubbly chin, which adds some grizzly panache. We are briefly treated to a cameo from a dashing upper left cheekbone, when the caped crusader’s mask is damaged in the heat of battle.

Anyway, I haven't been hyped for this movie ... but I'm also one that, well neither liked or disliked "Man of Steel".  Seems like people are having issues with the storytelling, basically a big "splat" of many story elements (i.e. sloppy script).  I'll probably watch this movie right before JL... as it appears (from the reviews) that this is just a setup.

Though from all accounts ... Batfleck was a really good Batman....though he went batsh.. crazy and killed a bunch of people.

Now down to 38%

I said when I first heard about this movie it was going to suck. First, direct by Snyder (just watch Sucker Punch and Watchmen to see how crappy his films are) and then they case Ben Affleck as Batman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. Seriously, there was no way this film wasn't going to be complete rubbish!

Not in the least bit surprised this movie is tanking.

Same here. Seems like DC just can't create an appealing cinematic universe like Marvel has. If this movie is going to be this bad, my expectations for the next DC movies has lowered considerably.

I mean, what they should of done is the Justice League movie then a movie based upon the death of Superman (Doomsday... the proper Doomsday and not have him in this meh movie) then finish it with a movie based upon the return of Superman (e.g. reign of the Supermen, Cyborg/Mongul destroying Coast City, the return, etc.). A fourth movie could focus upon Green Lantern becoming Parallax.

But then again, this is sadly just a pipe dream and they'll just release disappointing filth like this. Sigh.

What I wish they would have done is a regular standalone Superman movie picking up from where MoS left off. They've mad this way too crowded with Batman and Wonderwoman and we haven't really had a full movie of actual Superman to really start pulling for Cavill. It's kind of like  going right from the first Iron Man right into Avengers.

Haters gonna hate. If you haven't seen it yet then you can't judge it, or any movie.

With all due respect, this is such a cop out. I've seen the trailers and have read the reviews. Based on that, I can certainly form an opinion of my own. That's why word of mouth is so important.

And this isn't about haters gonna hate. Had the movie actually been good, I would have actually been more open to seeing it. But as I suspect, it isn't good. The rating is now down to 37%. This had all of the right ingredients to be an absolutely horrible film from the get go. The trailers and marketing campaign did nothing to increase any level of confidence in the film.

I may not have seen it, but I've never been shot before and I'm sure I don't want to be because I've read it isn't fun. Just like this film.

Trailers aren't indicative of the whole movie, trailers for ultron made it look great and it turned out mediocre.  And just because someone is called a critic doesn't give his or her opinion any more weight, i'll have to see it and judge for myself, as for word of mouth, you can't even call it that as the movie hasn't opened to everyone, only a small handful which is mixed about it, most of them being critics of some sort.

Tastes and likes are different for everyone, no doubt, but at the least i'd rather form my own opinion about these things instead of taking someone, who I don't even know, word for it. I'm not going to defend the film, I haven't seen it, but just because a few didn't like it that doesn't stop me from seeing if either.

So Snyder directed a movie that is a visual extravaganza, has convoluted plot overburdened with the JL setup, poor characterization, and has the sensibility of a 12 year old imagining what "grim" and "mature" is supposed to be like. Color me shocked.

The reviews read like "Man of Steel" reviews, which is unfortunately what I expected. I'll still give it a fair shot, but one thing that completely turns me off from seeing it, is that Batman kills people. It kind of ruins the character, both in his relationship with Superman, but more importantly, it ruins his dynamic with the Joker. Batman's rule is the one thing that prevents him from being a complete lunatic, it's basically what separates him from the Joker.

    • This is weird. Mythos is more unrestricted compared to Fable. Technically it poses more risk!!
    • This is a great thing, I always have issues with Verizon while inside of certain football stadiums due to the saturation and walls blocking signal so a LOS way to connect would be great. Verizon was supposed to be offering sat data this year but I've not heard a word of it lately. Dude is sending rockets into space in a cheap manner, low waste foot print and has a great product with solar/battery tech. We would be so far behind China right now if not for him and a push to get back into space.
    • illegally? Proof of that? Seems you are posting misinformation or well a pure straight up lie cause there is zero proof of such a thing. But I get it...
