Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 rollout, post if you have it

Recommended Posts

Forget about Update 1, I haven't even got 8.1 yet.

This is what I fear is happening to releases these days.  There is no drive to give a final release because everyone just uses the Beta/Pre-release anyway.  Then, if it goes wrong, the company can claim "well, it IS under testing".

What phone do you have?

The 8.1 Update 1 is only for DP enabled phones with the exception of HTC at the moment.

There is a website where you can track the updates per phone, per carrier, per region for Lumia Black/Cyan and 8.1

I uninstalled the lockscreen beta, then turned on and off kids corner and it still fails installing the developer preview on my Lumina 520 (has 2.5gb free space on the phone and 3gb on the micros card) same error 0x80188308 any other ideas?

The Live Lockscreen Beta has nothing to do with some phones unable to update to the 8.1 Update 1. Microsft are aware that some people are having issues though, WPCentral has an article on this here. Someone posted in the comments with the same error code. Looks like you're going to have to wait until they fix it.

Folders are awesome for music organisation, pin playlists from Spotify and get pretty music covers.

Jesus christ I forget its 1080p, now I've noticed that the wallpaper isn't 1080p. Can't even spot that on the phone.

Yeah, Nokia Lumia 920 (UK, unbranded); still "Under Testing".

I didn't want to install the developer preview.  I'm happy to wait but shame they even started the developer preview as all I have been hearing about since May is "download WP 8.1 NOW!" - so many articles, a slow rollout.

Don't know about that problem but the one effecting HTC owners could take "weeks" to be worked out going by the new tweets Joe B posted recently.   I'm guessing, if we're lucky, us 8X owners could go right to a newer build of GDR1 instead of this first preview out now.   Remember, the 8.1 preview saw 3 updates, maybe 4? Till it went final with build 12397/12400, I doubt this is the first build of GDR1 they push out, only question is how long till the next one?

I have experienced random crashes and reboots of the Phone :/ ever since I put 8.1U on my 920. I was surprised to see my phone turned off a couple of times (had enough battery juice so that wasn't a factor) where the phone just turned itself off. I have also seen it just cold reboot when on my desk while I wasn't even using it.

In total I have counted about 7-8 instances of reboots/power offs in last 4-5 days. Anyone else? I have had probably 1-2 crashes on it ever since I bought it  so this is shocking to me.

not experiencing that on my 925. may be a model specific issue or a unique issue. i haven't heard of anyone else with that issue either so I'd recommend trying a factory restore then applying the update again

Sorry, everything works fine here. Maybe the battery is dying?

The newest Xbox Music update, yesterday, seems to have fixed performance quite a bit.  There's also some 8.1 Update 1 specific stuff in it as I expected.

Anybody have an issue with call+sms filter (found in settings) no longer working?

Doing a soft reset (holding the power button for 8 seconds) has fixed this issue for me.

I thought this was basically the same as just turning the phone off and on (when it's frozen), but apparently not.

This isn't related to the update but my 920 used to crash and reboot if I had the SIM card set to 4G.  Forcing it on to 3G fixed the problem for me.

These crashes started right after I updated, I never had the crash/reboot problem with 4G/3G switch.

Error 8018830f or 80188306 fixed.

If you were getting either of these errors while trying to update, you should be good to go now.

I was getting the first error, and have now been able to update my 625.

Well that's one problem down, I'm still waiting for HTC to fix whatever issues it has with the 8X, I wanted to mess around with the updated IE and folders.

    • There is a default resolution setting in Settings > Display that can be changed with a click. You can also change the settings on a per-game basis. No CLI needed. Also, Steam has countless games that are not "[perpetual] alpha/beta games", so no need for the straw man. Plus you can use other stores as well. And console games (e.g. PS5) cost a fortune, which itself more than negates the price subsidy on the system, unless you plan on exclusively playing 1 or 2 games. It's true that you shouldn't buy a system that doesn't support the game(s) you want to play, but I think that's kinda obvious, and applies to every console as well as PC. I don't game in the living room and have no need of a Steam Machine, but there is a clear market segment that would find it useful.

RSS Guard 5.2.0 changelog: Added: Feed auto-fetch can now also be delayed while Feral GameMode is active on Linux and startup auto-fetch is skipped when GameMode is already active. (#2265) WebEngine builds can now use RSS Guard generated proxy auto-config (PAC) rules so article/web browsing follows per-account and per-feed proxy settings more closely. (#2273) Generated PAC rules now also cover related subdomains and use Public Suffix List data, so feeds such as feeds.bbc.co.uk can also proxy resources from images.bbc.co.uk. (#2273) Standard feeds can now define extra proxy domains, useful when article images, stylesheets or other page resources are loaded from a CDN or another domain that should use the same feed proxy. (#2273) RSS Guard now asks for proxy credentials when a WebEngine page needs proxy authentication and can fill credentials from the current feed proxy when available. (#2273) Network settings again include an option to ignore all cookies, which clears stored cookies and prevents new cookies from being accepted. Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now individually ignore cookies while downloading feed data. Stored cookies can now be deleted from the Tools menu. Custom skin colors can now override the feed list article count color separately from feed titles, including a separate highlighted color. (#2275) Settings dialog can now search across available settings and highlight matching controls. (#1754) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now optionally be reported as broken when they are valid but contain no articles. (#2039) Standard RSS/ATOM feeds can now override the application-wide feed connection timeout per feed. (#1023) Tray icon can now use a custom background color and unread-count text color, with an option to reuse the generated icon as the application icon. (#1973) Support for more benevolent parsing of Gemlog entries (#2295). Article list can now show when an article was received by RSS Guard. (#947) Feed deep discovery now actually scrapes all links found in the website and checks if they are feeds or not. This greatly enhances usability of the deep discovery mode and discovers many more feeds than before. (#2306) Search boxes now show a small dot when the feed or article list is hiding some items because of active filtering. (#873) Articles now have a shortcut-assignable action to open the homepage of the feed they belong to. (#2060) Fixed: Parallel feed updates no longer crash when multiple update results are processed at the same time. (64cf521) Links in WebEngine articles opened from feeds such as Kill the Newsletter now open correctly instead of being swallowed by the embedded page. (#2272) Relative article URLs resolution was kinda broken. (#2282) Clicking article URL did not work when the URL had "fragment" set. (#2293) The default proxy setting now uses Qt/system default proxy behavior instead of forcing no proxy. (e0263ad) WebEngine article loading now keeps the current feed context, so feed-specific proxy credentials remain available while the article page loads.
