Thanks for the reply FlishFun, but that fix does not help, that only apparantly fixes the unspecified path errors?, the errors I am receiving are afterwards, ie it is not installing the selected updates etc. similar to what Tambu was saying ... Is there a log I can send you at all? I am installing from A HD rather than a burnt disc (I have a spare 40gb drive that I put all the software I need to install in the case of a format etc)

Can you use something other than the psshutdown.exe in future versions? As mentioned by OptiPlex and cpugeniusmv there appears to be a native windows command to do the same thing, and it would stop my Virus Checker from complaining each time and deleting it from my backup drive and deleting the actual archive when finished downloading (I have Panda check archives etc)

Once again I thankyou for the hard work you and your team are doing, its just that the December version worked and this doesnt :(

[edit]

On a side note, I notice you just mentioned you dont use the XP version of shutdown as it doesnt work for 2k etc, surely Autopatcher XP is for, as the name suggests, XP systems, so surely you should use that? If there are builds available for 2k, then use the psshutdown.exe thing? I say this as surely you would have to have seperate builds anyway for different OSs? Or am I missing something?

:)

Flish, I saw the same updates missing on a oem sp1a XP Pro per windows update 13 criticals,

I suspect that some it see's as critcle updates you may have listed in the recommended,

So here is what my defaults were

"Criticals" "All Selected

"IE and OE" All selected

".NET and patch" ONLY in the recommended

here is a link to the VM one

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

April 2003 This is probally addressed in the Recommended MS VMachine updates right??

I've got a .rtf "cut and paste" of Winupdates listed as critical if you want.

Those of us that are just trying to get the critcals "Holes" patched may need to select some of the recomended to

sync with MS for example you have both Flavors of JAVA so WE may choose which.

I am working for a default that covers all or almost all critcals.

1) other question as I am adding my own apps in to the mix generally speaking

how should reboots be handled, EX: Cisco VPN Client is an app that if you want it

to work you better let it reboot. How does this keep from stepping on QCHAIN binding the pending

updates together? Or do we add a RUNONCE to pick these up on the reboot?

PS I use SAV Corporate 8 and 9 and it has no problem with psshutdown

The guy with panda might want to diable realtime before he runs it.

@BeLGaRaTh - The issue you are getting is quite weird... it seems like it's unchecking the updates (which it should only do during registry detection)... I'll have to check into it more. If you want, in C:\Windows\System32 there should be some AP logs... if you could snag those and Attatch them in a zip file, I can see what's goin' on (Get the logs like in here: Example).

Also, the reason we're using PSShutdown, is because we'd like to make the AP be able to be run across all Operating Systems... so we wouldn't have to make a diff one per OS. I'll talk to Raptor and see what he can do about makin' it more compatible. As it stands, Panda is the only one I know of that thinks it's a virus.

For all the people using AV software : Please disable it while installing AP!

Norton for example will quietly block the .vbs scripts used by AP to install some stuff.. Panda doesn't like that PSSshutdown thing.. McAfee gave an annonying error about those .vbs scripts too..

Flish/Rapt0r, you might want to add an message advising people to disable their AV software :)

I ran APXP before installing Panda, I did a clean install of windows yesterday and it was one of the first things I did to use APXP. the only problem is Panda always finds the PSShutdown.exe in the archive and deletes it, or when running a system scan it finds PSShudown.exe on my install/backup drive and deletes it :(

I have written an email to Panda regarding the PSShutdown.exe thing and got a reply today saying similar to what has been mentioned, there is a built in function of XP that does the exact same thing, and there is no way to tell Panda to ignore the file/file location when scanning.

E-mail them again and ask what they'd suggest to do on a Windows 2000 system? Panda would still delete the file, but there is no built in function of that we're aware.

@c4rl0s - We'll add that to the next release. :)

Not sure if this is old or not or if it's been posted.

His reply seems to have value I suppose. Tell me guys, what are all the known issues using this product.

For the record. I use it and it works great..Just curious

Yes, I'm aware of that (though I value LockerGnome more and THEY like the AP... lol). Anywho...as far as his worries go... first, the File Sizes are posted, and I'm going to see if it's possible to have the next build verify an MD5 or such as an added precaution. As it stands... I am the only person who uploads these files, and I also periodically download a copy to verify everything is A-OK... also, it has checks built in that is stuff is altered it will change from stating "Official Edition" to say "Custom Edition" (the next release will also have a popup warning). The only "known" issues are that now and then a bug slips through my (and my testers) fingers, that we will end up having to fix... besides that, there are no known issues with running the AutoPatcher that we are aware of. :)

FlishFun, could I ask what is the January Update Patch for?

I ran AP on all my 5 systems (update and full) and I didnt get any error, unless people have chosen to install something that I didnt select and I don't know what it is.

Thanks

Some people were havin' an issue that caused AutoPatcher to not install correctly the first time around. Now it didn't happen to everyone, but I'd say a good half. This just fixes the issue. If you haven't gotten it, it's okay, but if you'd rather be safe than sorry, download it. :)

I did anyway, but since I havent have any problems, I guess I'm good to go and wait for the next AP release from you and raptor :D

Great job guys

Flish update the preload I ran it on yesterday After I forced some of the updates on (were set as defaults)

and selecting MS Java from the recommended

There were only 2 critcals remaining and I skipped those on purpose.

"? can we make the dialog Maximize so we can skip all th scrolling?

I have my unattended bat done it work fine but I can't seem to call it with

autorun has anyone already figured this out?

Process takes a while but it is seamless.

Thanks again

Just got my new motherboard today, so I had to reinstall. Just wanted to say thanks to you guys for such an awesome program and all of your hardwork. I finally got around to downloading it and it was worth the wait on my modem.

Anyway thanks again (Y)

:pinch:

Yeah - the program maybe is great, but I since 4.0 version a can't install any newer (tried DEC and JAN).

System freezes when it says "Checking defaults"

Somebody help me please....

My conf: celeron 700 MHz, ABIT BH6(Intel440BX), 256 MB RAM, Geforce 2MX400 - on newer machine there is no problem with this...

Thanks for any help ( write to: [email protected] )

2 seperate problems..

First i tried Dec full and added the Jan update + jan fix.zip It starts ok but gives error file missing ( doesnt say what ) and quits altogether. ??

Second, ive d/l from 4 different locations, and when running the Jan.exe full update it does nothing but give a list of over 200+ errors?!

Id really like to give this a shot but with all the problems it doesnt seem likely that im able to get it to work properly..

thanks for any advice..

A list of over 200+ errors? Can you tell us some of them? And how did you run the Jan Update (when you updated the Dec)?

seems to be a corrupt 7-zip file as alll i got was a box that listed all the errors ( which all were within the progfiles dir ).

I had the dec full installed and then double-clicked on the jan update file and selected the dec autoupatcher.exe... it finished without displaying any errors, but when you start the program ( with menu ) it says after loading defaults ( which i didnt select any ) starts

and gives error 'file missing ' and terminates...

I'll try once more with a new d/l from madboot.com and see if it will extract without any errors..

Hmmm... that's odd... well, try the new download... let us know if it works. (Y)

well that didnt work at all... tried the new d/l from madboot, and one from bittorrent and both were corrupt ?

I couldnt copy anything from the error message window but there were over 300+ errors. just stating the autopatcher-xp/progfiles/xx file is broken...

so frustrating... but i havent given up yet... will keep trying :(

    • I don't hate the new menus, I am not a fan of the lack of features and how they went live when they clearly are not complete. The menu itself presents much better than the previous - but what's lacking (IMO) is: 1) Any kind of automated manipulation such as: "this goes on the new menu because you use this feature more often on this filetype" "this is rarely used and will fall back to the old menu" 2) Any kind of user manipulation such as: "a UI to add/remove/order items to the new menu"
    • The biggest issue in this version of Win 11 context menu, from usability standpoint, is the movable row with basic commands. Think of a car analogy...if You turn the week left the infotainment screen will move right and vice versa. With how it works now Microsoft made something forbidden in designing in any UI, software or hardware. I can't grasp who were the morons within Microsoft suggesting it was a good idea and gave it a green light.

Impress is the fastest and easiest way to create effective multimedia presentations. Stunning animation and sensational special effects help you convince your audience. Create presentations that look even more professional than the standard presentations you commonly see at work. Get your collegues' and bosses' attention by creating something a little bit different. Draw lets you build diagrams and sketches from scratch. A picture is worth a thousand words, so why not try something simple with box and line diagrams? Or else go further and easily build dynamic 3D illustrations and special effects. It's as simple or as powerful as you want it to be. Base is the database front-end of the LibreOffice suite. With Base, you can seamlessly integrate into your existing database structures. Based on imported and linked tables and queries from MySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft Access and many other data sources, you can build powerful databases containing forms, reports, views and queries. Full integration is possible with the in-built HSQL database. Math is a simple equation editor that lets you lay-out and display your mathematical, chemical, electrical or scientific equations quickly in standard written notation. Even the most-complex calculations can be understandable when displayed correctly. E=mc2. • Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system 2-pack is 27% off by Ivan Jenic The Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh Wi-Fi system is currently $239.99 on Amazon for the 2-pack, down from $329.99. That's 27% off and $90 saved for a solid Wi-Fi solution that covers your entire home (purchase link down below). The 2-pack covers up to 4,000 square feet (372 square meters) and supports 100+ connected devices, which handles the vast majority of home setups without breaking a sweat. Wi-Fi 6E brings access to the 6 GHz band for lower latency across the network, and the 2.5 Gb Ethernet port supports gigabit+ internet plans if your ISP offers them. eero's TrueMesh technology handles traffic routing automatically, so you're not manually managing which devices connect to which node. You set up the entire thing through the eero app, and the entire process takes a few minutes. The system also receives automatic security updates in the background, so once you set it up, you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If you're covering a larger home or want more nodes, the 3-pack is $329.99 and the 4-pack is $479.98, both at similar discount levels. It's worth mentioning that a newer model exists, which is likely the reason for the discount, but the Pro 6E is still perfectly capable hardware for most homes.
