Calc.exe with MUI and installer (to fix ACLs and put MUIs properly).

Genuine Win8.1 calc.exe.

For those who like it more than new Modern app.

Download old calculator.

Announcement.

Enjoy.

I find the desktop calculator app a lot nicer to use, the "calculate difference between two dates" feature of the old desktop calculator isn't included in the modern calculator either sadly, something i find quite useful.

I hope y'all are submitting proposed changes to the Feedback app instead of just whining on forums and installing legacy software.

They have not thought about store which they have bunch of calculators including styles. No matter if it's free or paid.

To me it looks like all Windows apps were developed at that special room at Microsoft Campus... Microsoft Kindergarten.

I have yet to find one that functions properly, looks good, and even serves a purpose basically.

Even the ones included with Windows are half-@ss.

Google and majority of android app developers, surely can't be the only ones who can create an awesome app.

Perhaps they don't work as intended because they're still in development?

Cool.  One of the the things that I always liked about Windows.  3rd party support/independent support for things like this and make people producing mods so you can get the look/feel you want.

Won't bother with it myself since I use my cell calculator for what I need.  But nice none the less.

whats the point? they are not listening to anything, and just keep doing what they want.

nothing has really improved in previous windows from beta to RTM, if they listened to from beginning this whole mess with windows 8 and them back tracking now would never happen.

"them" developing Windows 10 is different than "them" developing Windows 8. I agree that the guys in-charge are also infamous for ignoring feedback but so far they have been listening and implementing feedback. If only people bothered to provide feedback on the new Calc (which I did the first time I used it) instead of copying over older versions...

Microsoft has certain goals in mind. The goal of Windows 10 is to unify platforms. Reverting back to pre-Windows 8 applications is not going to accomplish that.

Well, as long as they stop sacrificing features/desktop real estate...I'm fine with it.  The Modern calculator app (in its present form) doesn't bode well though for Modern apps...considering that the "pre-Windows 7" calculator is superior.

...and that is just a calculator.   /sigh

Feedback. They're listening. Obviously, as a WIP, not everything is going to be done at once.

Also, with these apps built for touch and mouse, elements can only get so small. Calc is a nice size now - On high resolution screens, it looks amazing.

Already done.

The calculator, as it is now, is horrible regarding the size.  There is absolutely no reason for it to be double the size of a "legacy" calculator.  If these Modern apps scale so well...then they should scale down to a reasonable size on one of the most common display (like 1080).  I can only imagine what it looks like on those cruddy 1366x768 displays...probably half the screen.  That is outstanding that it looks amazing on high resolution screens...what's the percentage of users having a high res display again?

LOL! Ahh, no. The app looks beautiful on a 1366 screen.

I really like the new Calculator app, actually. That you can resize it to virtually anything you need: narrow, wide, etc.

That said, nothing wrong with bringing back the old Calculator if it suits you. But I'm glad Microsoft is reducing the number of redundant apps in Win10. We didn't need two Calculators that largely did the same thing.

I stand corrected on the "half screen" comment but...um...no. It is still too big...without the option of being smaller (in its present form).

It's likely bigger to make it easier to touch the various app elements, like the buttons, etc. Also you can make it slightly smaller vertically, if you use the standard mode (not the advanced/programming mode as shown).

Still too big.  Maybe...one day.  I would be ok with it being smaller...like below.  Note:  The smaller calculator is a Photoshop by me.

Ideally the calculator should have voice commands.

Cortana?
