For anyone who wants more control over traffic, or are just having traffic issues in general, this Mod will great help: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=411833858&searchtext=

It is a traffic light mod. It allows you to enable/disable traffic lights at intersections. I have a few one-way streets that still end up with traffic lights that don't need them, I've turned them all off and this great improves traffic flow and makes it more realistic too.

Built my first really big city on one of the Mars (or maybe moon) maps, pretty cool. Although I accidentally partially flooded my city when I added, and subsequently deleted a dam.... Excuse the bad roadwork... still figuring that stuff out, haha

Dang, i was hoping they were going to fix the trains in this patch. Getting very annoying.

I read that its a bug that they're working on.

My entire city is this all over, and its hurting my population. had about 210,000+ population before i installed the train system.

All of the trains are stuck, they cannot go anywhere.

I have made sure that my train lines are on a loop, so a train will never need to reverse out of a station. I've also reduced the budget for trains which has helped a little.

I am hooked on this game! :p Best

You've got 2 engines facing each other on the same line.

The trains tracks seem to work like roads. Left side goes on direction, the right goes the opposite.

The problem is one depot seems to come with too many trains, which hogs all the tracks and stalls the entire system. We dont need 20+ trains to pick up a few people here and there.

I never thought of limiting the budget :p

There needs to be a way to control the amount of trains each depot comes with (if thats even how it works).

I went ahead and removed all passenger depots, and just have the cargo depots left. Might even remove them since industry cant seem to get rid of their products, and the commercial still has its related issues. I assume installing the railroad would resolve that issue. Guess not. Or maybe it would if the trains could actually get places faster.

I gave up on my first city.

I started a new one, and used the mod for all 25 pieces of land.  Pretty big.

I put my industry around a buffer zone, away from my commercial and residential zones.  Health is pretty good.

I also placed the landfills away from them as well.

Still having deaths here and there, even with a good chunk of hospitals and clinics and traffic is not an issue in the areas where they are occurring.

Really liking this game so far. I originally thought that the traffic was pretty broken but I now reckon it was just down to my terrible planning skills. The more cities I make the better my traffic management seems to get.

I know a lot of people are complaining about the traffic, but to be honest that's kind of what makes the game. The game would be too easy if it where to get nerfed.

I agree, and I have a feeling the devs agree too.  They could have done some traffic tweaks and such.. but honestly outside of maybe some pathing and such for the vehicles.. there isn't anything broken.. aside from my own road building skills.

Exactly, as I said a few posts ago, there are some traffic AI tweaks that are needed (like when traffic utilizes only one road in multi-lane roads and what not) but for the most part all the traffic issues people have hammered the game about can be solved by tweaking your infrastructure.

Ok so been playing this last day or 2 and made a few starter cities. Highest population about 15k. Few questions...

What rate of tax are you guys running and what policys are best?

As I find im only ever able to get about +$2500 in terms of income. With never much more than 10-50k on me.

Also does the game bug out if too many mods/assets as I downloaded a load of stuff including a good 50 or so houses/buildings etc and found I could no longer save or load games?

Other than that Im really enjoying the game  so far and if things keep improving this is well on its way to slappin Simcity about the face.

If anyone wants a cheap copy from a reliable CD Key retailer, I can recommend www.cdkeys.com

I've used them many times in the past, and they have Cities: Skylines for

Generally I stick in the 10-13% tax range, anything higher and I start seeing complaint notifications from the city. On my first really successful city (with crap traffic, though haha) I was making around 25k, maybe a bit more (once you hit a certain threshold money just starts flowing in real fast). I'm not really quite sure how that city ended up doing so well, to be honest. As for policies, free smoke detectors is really the only no-brainer one I've gone with so far. Recycling is another one.

Something I've not figured out though is how to deal with the trash in landfills... I know you can build Incineration plants but seems odd there's only a single way to do away with trash.
