It should be out any moment now (I just checked in my Win10 VM - so far nothing).

Edit: It's out.

Epic changes in IE... Gonna love it..

Must read: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2014/11/11/living-on-the-edge-our-next-step-in-interoperability.aspx

2000+ changes... Mind blowing... To make IE better interop with other browsers...

Appreciated!!!

any notable changes in this build? will be updating my VM when i get off work

Read this: http://studio384.be/w10/

Front Page post: https://www.neowin.net/news/windows-10-technical-preview-build-9879-released-download-it-now

So the build is failing to install for me. :(

Ouch.

No problems on the dual-boot desktop so far.  Version is 6.4.9879.  I haven't tried any of my failed applications (so far, still just the two MMOs) yet - that gets done either later tonight or tomorrow.

The notebook will get it next week (I have some hardware to grab for it - specifically a new adapter-brick.  Snapped the tip off the old one - purely operator error.) - then the notebook gets dragged back into the operational testing.

The highlight new feature comes with an update for IE11 - the Edge Document mode (comes via the Windows Phone version of IE).

Other new IE features are documented on the MSDN IEBlog (which will be the second page that opens when you start IE post-update - the first page will be whatever page you choose; in my case, the Neowin Forum page).

A new API for gamepads (called, naturally, Gamepad API) supports ALL Xbox gamepads out of the box except the original (supposedly - I'll try to scare up an XB360 gamepad for testing).

A subset of ECMA6 Harmony has been added as well.  This will get shaken down separately next week - especially because I'll be testing side-by-side with the latest Firefox/Waterfox based on what is known about ECMA6.

Just updated to 9879, It seems slightly better, I am still waiting for my explorer crashing problem which hasn't happened yet (touch wood)

only problem is i'mhaving troubles with fullscreen apps now, I open app, e.g. Netflix, send it to second monitor then when I click the first monitor the application gets sent to the first monitor.

This is bad: floating dialogues for Modern UI!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, there's been quite unanimous negative feed back to that change. They should stay as they were in Windows 8, imo.

I really hope at some point during development they replace the animation of the spinning dots. it gives this very sluggish feel to everything .. where the dots would zoom down the right then slowly do an "I think I can I think I can" climb up the left....

They need some animation that turns at a constant speed.

Have a weird issue on a Haswell laptop with combination Intel+AMD graphics, there is a constant black bar at the top of all windows, be they classic or Modern and it shows no controls in it (though the controls are there and work for closing a Modern app, for ex.)

Any ideas?

Any ideas?

I have the same issue. It was working fine on the previous build. It's annoying, as I have a LOT of issues with the new build.

As much as I like being on the edge of technology I might have to opt-out of the 'Fast' lane, as I was lucky to get my computer back up and working after it wouldn't boot.

Wow, just installed the new build on my sister's computer as a dual boot. It took forever, like around an hour and a half to install and around another hour just to download. The worst part, is I had registered it with my Microsoft Account, but PC Settings would not open this time around. I had to register my sister's MS Account for the Insiders Program then finally the Preview Builds showed up in her PC Settings. Unfortunately it somehow ruined her account on Windows 7 as no program (including Windows Explorer) loads on that dual boot, the other accounts on that partition work fine. I DID set up a library from Windows 10 to include her Windows 7 user folders, maybe that caused an issue. Also, it has 2 hard drives one SSD and one HDD. The HDD originally had Windows XP on it but it was not set up as a dual boot because Windows 7 is housed on the SSD with user folders on the HDD (where XP is housed). I installed Windows 10 on the SSD, so it would boot quickly. /endrant

    • This saddens me greatly
    • Well again I do not mind seeing it charge my stuff if it does it well. "yeah charge my phone like that, charge it good"
    • Getting so tired of this push for that new useless slop over the less-useless old slop that at this point I just want M$ to have this nice, big, hearty cup of *FU*.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.168 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. • Thanks Microsoft but no, I find both iterations of Outlook terrible nowadays and switched back to Thunderbird at home.
