Some drivers still have stupid issues with Office 2013.  You want the entire OS glitching out because people are too stupid to update their drivers?

 

Direct2D/DirectWrite can run in hardware accelerated mode as well as software based rendering - the software based rendering performance is better than GDI/GDI+. Nothing is stopping them from maintaining a list of 'problematic GPU's' that fall back to software mode when present.

I'm sure they have their reasons whether we agree with some of them or not.

I hope it is a product of something real rather than a situation of "we can't be stuffed" given Microsoft's refusal to even fix the most basic user interface inconsistencies in the past. Move over to Direct2D/DirectWrite would help not only performance but also scalability when it comes to hi-dpi configurations etc. I can understand having legacy support in the form of libraries for old applications but there is no reason why the built in components of an operating system aren't moving forward and utilising the latest libraries as a show case of the strengths relating to that new library.

Wasn't this the case with early builds of Vista - and even XP (older drivers causing OS glitches)?

 

Aren't some folks refusing to update their drivers today with Windows 8.1 update 1 (which has driver parity with the Tech Preview and Server 2012R2)?

The one thing I've hated about services like Cortana, Siri etc is the long delay between answers.  I know it needs to check against databases etc but until they can speed this up a lot more, I won't be using them.

That is true but, most of the stuff that MS releases these days has some usability issue or the other Eg:- Halo Masterchief collection,Xbox Music & Video apps on Windows Phone,Windows 8,etc.

you try getting such big programs to work perfectly. it's not that easy, there's going to be something you miss no matter how much testing you do

I just noticed this, could someone update the poll with Windows 10 instead of Windows 9? :p

1. I do not have editing rights anymore, since Neowin does not give out long-term editing ability (which they should for good standing members even without a sub)

2. This poll and thread was created before it was called Windows 10

3. I didn't want to bother the mods, because they are very busy and I didn't think it was necessary because hopefully "10" was implied. :p

4. I'd love to help out with this kind of stuff (maybe a new group: Forum Maintenance?)

 

That seems reasonable.

 

Windows 9 still appears as a choice for the second question.

Which part of "Windows Technical Preview" made you think it was a final release similar to Halo:MCC, Xbox Music& Video? All three of them are cluster######s of unbelievable proportions but Windows 10 doesn't get grouped with them yet.

      Studio MDHR reveals Cuphead sequel and an 8-bit platformer spin-off by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Studio MDHR has been rather silent about its next major gaming project since the release of Cuphead back in 2017. However, that ended today during the Summer Game Fest presentation, with the studio revealing not one but two project announcements. First, the studio confirmed that it is currently in the middle of developing a brand-new Cuphead game, bringing back the iconic characters for another adventure. Just like the last game, this is slated to be a fully hand-animated endeavor. This also means there isn't a release date attached to it yet. “Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do here at Studio MDHR,” says co-founder Chad Moldenhauer. “When it came time to peel back the curtain and share a little bit about what we’ve been up to, we couldn’t imagine a more fun way to do so than with today’s Special Bulletin. The studio is working on this new Cuphead with help from Toronto’s Stop Motion Department and Continue Agency. At the same time, Studio MDHR also revealed that another part of the team has been working on a different Cuphead installment.       Any decent ITSM will A) have a web form that allows a user to raise a ticket, if you're writing an email you can write a ticket. B) Monitor a mailbox and auto-generate tickets based on inbound mails for those users that really can't get their heads around the concept that if you have an issue you go to support.mycompany.com and fill in the box. From your description you're having users email the desk, and then having a human read each one and manually raise a ticket on behalf of the user.
