You guys are not paying attention to anything on the web today are you? July 9th, being confirmed from sources inside MS.

From another thread:

WZor is wrong about 50% of the stuff he posts.

That's just a screenshot he took of 10163 with the calendar open and typing a made up entry into it.

I could have done the same thing. Time will tell.

But I don't see anything from official sources within MS.

I think there is still a lot of confusion to be honest.   I was running 10162 on my laptop and went back to my licensed 8.1 and have Win 10 reserved.  Reserved for my desktop also.  I played with 10 and liked it, now I'll just wait till July 29th and see what happens.  :)

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking I might have to do. I'd love to get the free upgrade while I have a clean 10 install, but they wouldn't be validating anyone that way right? For instance, XP users are not eligible for free upgrade. But they could just clean install 10 TP and then get the free upgrade? Doesn't quite make sense.

Any user doing a clean install of Windows 10 Insiders builds are technically on the Insiders Program. They are not fully licensed, and will be continually pushed time bombed beta builds.

Again, this has been documented. XP users aren't eligible for the actual free upgrade. They will have to purchase a retail copy to install and license.

Stop making a mountain out of an ant hill.

Right, you quoted me twice, one earlier, and one just now.  Since the earlier one, there have been significant developments.

https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/4481/windows-10-rtm-is-reportedly-imminent

Read the first 3 paragraphs, credible sources. Plus, why are you guys even doubting it's coming, it has to happen at some point. July 9th.

And as far as I can tell, the final build has already been compiled. I would guess they are just getting this ready internally for distribution to OEMs via electronic means.

The way i understand it is, anybody can clean install an insiders build and as long as they stay as an insider they will get Windows 10 for free, as long as they remain in the insiders program, the only downside to this is they will need to keep upgrading the builds as the others will stop working after a set time and they will have to put up with possibly an unstable build.

Windows 7, 8.1 Home and Pro get it for free as long as they request it in the first 12 months.

I hope the above is correct!

A ''news'' on the web said that Windows 10 will come as RTM,this week, can this be true?

Wzor said July9th, but s/he could always be wrong!

9th is sign off. Which they can send a copy to all stores/companies to install on the devices so they can sell the devices on the shelves. They have time to get the bugs fixed by 29th for customers.

29th is Windows 10 launch for Windows 7 and 8.x users for free copy of Windows 10 that they reserved for.

Had a recompile of the RTM build, trying to keep the RTM build info up to date on this thread which will remain locked till it is released - https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1262894-official-windows-10-rtm-discussion-build-number-100xxxxx/

We don't really need a separate thread for RTM, it will probably be released to Insiders and for us users (not OEMs) RTM is not such a big deal/release anyways. It's business as usual.

BTW I was wrong earlier, yes RTM is confirmed for July 9th

Sorry but you don't make decisions on what threads we need and what threads we don't.

The Windows 10 Insider Preview thread is going to continue, for Insider Preview users, since it remains in a "Beta" state and that thread will remain in the Microsoft Beta Forum.

The [OFFICIAL] Windows 10 RTM thread is in the Microsoft (Windows) Discussion & Support Forum and will be the main thread for discussion on the RTM. There is NO good that can come from mixing discussion on the continued insider preview builds and the RTM build. This will just cause mass confusion.

I swear, I'm not trying to man. I've been building my PC's for years since Windows 3.11 (and used Commodore computers before that) and have never had questions about OS upgrades.

I think there is still a big question regarding insiders. I've had people tell me to  stay on whatever build I'm on and then when it goes to RTM, just opt out of insider builds. What I want to avoid having to do is erase and install Windows 8.1 again and use that until the 29th. I am a fully licensed 8.1 user, it's just a matter of #1 not wanting to re-install all my apps again and #2 go back to using the horrid Windwos 8.1. ;-)

I know it's my own fault for deciding to clean install an insider build.

Okay Okay, don't know how you got so angry  ...... I still see the RTM listed under Microsoft Beta, but it is under Windows Discussion and Support. Anyways...

So, just so I know. Officially, if I do NOT want to remain an insider I will have to re-install Windows 8.1 some time before the 29th and upgrade from that?

EDIT: I read it all wrong, you want to drop out of the program completely, then you need to reinstall Windows 8.1.

Microsoft doesn't send copies of Windows to stores and tell them to go install it on all the computers/tablets on the shelves.

I was talking about placing the copies on shelves for customers to buy so they can install their devices if they don't want insider crap.  Customers can ASK service desk to install OS on the devices for customers who does not know how to do so.

Companies install OS on their devices such as Acer, Dell, etc... so they can sell computers to customers...

That what I meant.

Gabe once said on twitter "Once you upgrade W10 w/ the free upgrade offer you will able to clean reinstall Windows 10 on same device any time" well, have we got any more detail on how exactly this will work since then? We have to do an upgrade then clean install after that, but what is the key then?

Sorry for asking but did Microsoft clarified something about MSA accounts and activations?

I mean, do we need to have different accounts to validate a machine or can we use just one for all the devices we own?

I have 2 pc's I use with the same MSA.

Both got the little Windows flag in the system tray.

Both are now waiting for the update to arrive on the 29th

I also use this account to log in Win 10, in a VM

You do not need a MSA account (or you can have one...doesn't matter)...for the upgrade offer.  You just need a valid 7/8x license.

    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
