I keep telling myself I'll install VMWare again and mess with new builds but I keep putting it off, I doubt my test tablet has upgraded to the newest build to, probably still stuck on 14332.

There is always hyper-v.

I've been running a windows 10 VM on my workstation in the background for the last 8 months. One of these days I'll get around to shutting it off ;) I keep forgetting about it.

dual boot using a VHD. That's what I am doing these days. You can't easily update builds but it's still workable.

Is it me or the Edge extensions don't work until the browser is restarted? (not sure if that is stated somewhere).

Yes, I found this to be the case with AdBlock at least.

The OneDrive UWP is terrible, the right-click doesn't work AND when you enter selection mode how are you supposed to get out of it? Yea, use the BACK button

Then there's the store. They don't even follow their own design language. there are gradients and the app descriptions are now pushed BELOW the screenshots of the app, so you have to scroll down to even know what the app does.

To Install the new Store on PC in Powershell:

1. get-appxpackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers

2. get-appxpackage *WindowsStore* | remove-appxpackage

3. Add-AppxPackage -register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_11604.1000.21.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode

Sounds good, and the store is better on desktop, probably more tweaks coming to, I think we'll start to see more bug fixes and less new stuff after build 14342 though.

Weird,  I don't think they plan to go back to calling it Xbox Video and just leave it as Movies and TV.   Unless the name change has to do with the two stores starting to become one?

This is the 2nd time it's shown up as XBOX video,

But the app name remains the same Movies and TV.

LOVE the new settings app, it's a whole lot cleaner now and gone is the ugly predominant grey. Hopefully other apps will follow suit.

I hope they finally sync up all the app UIs and stop changing them at random times.  It's nice to listen to the users but at some point you have to put your foot down and stick with something.   All the default apps should share the same UI along with the OS itself that other apps can mirror if developers want to.

I finally re-joined Insider (last time was before release) I notice no difference except Start, notification location and settings. the rest works just as good as the non-insider version. :p

Not keen on Start having all programs expanded by default, it looks messy compared to jut having most recent and Settings/Power.

I'm not keen on the notifications icon location either, that's where the clock/calendar have been forever, I can bring up the calendar without even looking at the screen using a mouse, if I tried it blindly now I would just be greeted by the begging me to try office notification. >.<

I've turned the icon completely off now, I'll bring it back if they add a toggle to put it on the left side of the clock or there is a reg fix for it. :)

So with 14366 now out, how's it handling for you guys?

Pretty bad so far. I get "Class Not Registered" when I try to open Edge or Windows Store and the start menu won't open at all.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
