Usually around this mark. Am at home with other users active on the Wi-Fi.

I'm sure my upload was better a few years ago on my first Virgin account. Will dig up me archives...

Wait a sec here. If my hard disk copies at a rate of 30-40Mb/s, what benefit do I get from 150Mb/s download speed?

On Infinity (Fibre) here in London. Got someone else watching HD Netflix and PS4 going at the same time as the speed test. I would have gone Virgin if a) they were in my area... even though they keep sending me advertising... b) they weren't so rubbish at fixing issues. Had huge problems in uni with capacity in the area and it would literally take them months to fix it.

See I am in apartments which Virgin Media here dont seem to cater for, I was with ADSL or whatever it is it might be 2+ not sure. So I went with Sky who also do my TV and broadband. They originally said I would get 2 - 5 mbps and there is no Fibre on the roll-out plan.....

So I am happy with this connection so far!  :)

Just got upgraded to 150Mb/s with Virgin, although in all honesty i stopped caring about the download speed back when it hit 100Mb/s. I would really like a quicker upload however:

New Verizon SpeedMatch program in effect.

Enrolled in it yesterday (it was free), and I was not seeing the increase in upload speeds. It was determined I was not getting the upload speeds thanks to their old ass router I had (I use my own), so they overnighted me a new one and I now see the same upload speeds as download. Which is what their new program is all about.

Good deal for free.

I'd be surprised if your hard drive was that slow.  Most are upwards of 80MB/sec these days (that's megabytes, not megabits) which equates to 640Mbits as there are 8 bits to a byte.  Even a rubbish hard drive should be able to sustain well in excess of 150Mbit these days.

When I copy files it usually stays between 30 and 40 Mb/s. At least according to Windows.

best two speed test websites websites i have found

1. SpeedOf.Me is an HTML5 Internet speed test. No Flash or Java needed! It is the smartest and most accurate online bandwidth test.

2. http://testmy.net Simple, to make sure you're getting what you pay for. This speed test is useful if you feel a connection slow down or want to see how your Internet is performing. This isn't like any other broadband speed test. TestMy's proprietary method is proven to help identify issues other speed tests fail to detect. The TMN Speed Test shows your true speed.

    • Seems like Neowin has transitioned into being simps for the white house. I can't find a review for the last UFC games that came out.
