14-year-old girl gang raped by Indian military on train

A group of Indian army personnel gang reportedly raped a 14-year-old girl on a train after forcing her to drink alcohol and following her to the toilet.

The girl was on board the Howrah-Amritsar Express to Punjab but apparently entered the wrong carriage by mistake which was reserved for the army staff, according to The Times of India.

Social workers found her unconscious on the train, after two men followed her to the toilet. She was scheduled to undergo a medical test to confirm the rape allegations.

Police in the north-eastern region of Jharkhand reportedly arrested one man who had offered the girl alcohol and the two men who allegedly raped the girl have yet to be detained.

India has fallen under scrutiny for the lack of protection for women, particularly on public transport. Another violent rape of a young girl on a moving bus in Delhi caused global outrage in December 2012 – one of the rapists has already been released after he served time in a juvenile detention facility.

At least we Indians, report the same, make noise about it, draw attention and search for justice.

Unlike many other courtiers, specially few from our neighboring region, who are more busy in destroying human rights, freedom of Women.

The incident is really unfortunate and bad. As I write this, news reports suggest that the men has been identified and nation wide search is ON for these two men.

The 'search for justice ' is a hollow victory once each new rape story comes to light

1.2 billion people..

You name a religion, we have the followers and practice.

29 states..

Countless Political Party

22 Official Language along with 1662 different dialect

Couple that with gap between rich and poor, extreme fast growth of cities compare to other areas, literacy rate..

Does that justify a crime ??

No, rather tried to underline the challenge what is faced.

I am sure, if a crime happens in your area, you would be much more worried than me or anyone else. Same here..

Why I used the word "Search for Justice", since those of us, who has better access to world and all tools, know many of our country men fails to get the justice they deserve for not just a particular crime but crime as whole.

But we fight to bring each of these black spot to public attention, rather than to suppress the same in sake of painting a rosy picture. There is no denial in your words, and from our end, fight will continue to seek justice for each and every one of these.

The only news I seem to hear about India is about rapes like this one.

I think the previous one was on a bus and a group of men raped a girl while other passengers on the bus did nothing and she later committed suicide.

I just did a google search "india rape" and on it comes these headlines within the last 24 hrs.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman in the campus of tech giant Infosys in the western Indian city of Pune.

Nun, Who Tried To Prevent Robbery, Gang Raped In India.

She was attacked(raped) at a rural police station.

A schoolgirl holds a placard during a prayer meeting for a five-year-old rape victim in Jammu.

14-year-old girl 'raped as revenge for election defeat' kills herself in ...

I've visited India and it is by far the worst country I have ever been too, hope something is done to clear up all the issues prevalent there.

Never judge a place by media coverage. Not saying that there aren't rapes in India, or that the women status couldn't use some improvement, but saying it's a rape-land is not true. Media always have agenda, and ads to sell. Americans are not shooting each other everyday, and rape in India is not a considered to be a positive thing.

Over 31,000 people die each year due to guns in the US, majority of which are suicides. So yes Americans are shooting each other everyday, at least 50x per day actually.

Bad example to compare it to.

Matter of fact more you all people from other parts of the world raise your voice, in any matter, be it positive or absolute disgress, it helps the over all cause of capturing the attention of the law makers..

Law is there, as after the Delhi Bus rape, new juvenile law is going to in effect really soon..

Make noise more noise, positive, negative and harsh. Noise keeps the issue alive and helps us, here in India also to force law maker to take this issue of crime against women to utmost important..

Few positive I would like to point, Rape cases, all what you have mentioned were fast tracked.. Specially, in a country like India, where it takes decades to prove and then punish (3 tire courts), rape case punishments are now getting handed over within 2 years of starting the trail..

So yes sir, make more noise, that is what we really need !!

I don't live in India there isn't much I can do for how things operate over there apart from criticize.

It's people like you, your family, your neighbors and further more to stand up and put pressure on the government to improve things. Also to improve quality of life over there, rid the police, military and government systems of wide spread corruption and bridge the large gap between the super rich and the extremely poor.

That is what I am trying to do here..

Present GOV is more focused on business, specially bridging the import gap.

Not everything can be solved via same route. Hate crime against women, if highlighted, discussed and commended in a circle where gov wants to conduct their business, directly it influences gov's mind set towards the issue in question..

Yes, we have not stopped our protest.. Every incident is highly debated and protested across the country.. Best thing is the youth, students are very active in this regards. I have already said, since 2012, we have made good progress. The 2012 Delhi bus rape was the turning point, and since then,

1. fast track court for punishment

2. speedy arrest of the accused

has been made mandate !!

Media supported the issue, every incident is kept alive till the verdict.

New law for lower the age limit for punishment is now getting enforce and capital punishment (death penalty) has also been approved !!

So kindly blame us in a constructive way so that we can over come this challenge

Actually, that's an amazing example. 31,000 is nothing if you take into account the amount of people in the US (Approx. 330 million), yet judging by the media I would guess maybe 31,000 per day are getting killed and bullets are flying everywhere.

    • Payday TWO!! Is 13 years old man I feel old - I remember trying it out and if I did not know I would say 5-6 years ago or something
    • Payday 2 engine upgrade adds 64-bit and DX11 support, drastically shrinks install size by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Payday 2, the most popular entry in the heisting game franchise, is getting a surprising update after all these years. This is slated to be a complete engine upgrade that will enhance almost every aspect of the 13-year-old title, targeting performance, loading times, file size, rendering backend, and more. Developer Sidetrack Games is planning a beta to test out the new version ahead of the full public launch. The development team today revealed that the long-awaited upgrade to the 64-bit architecture is happening with this Diesel 3.0 engine update. By letting the game use more ram than 4GB, it is said to improve stability and compatibility on most hardware. It should also help modders in the long term with implementing larger changes too. "While many of the changes are made on the backend and not everything will be visible to you guys because it is a massive rewrite of the entire codebase, there will be a lot of things that you can look forward to," Sidetrack explained. Payday 2 will also hop over from DirectX 9 to 11. Instead of visual improvements, this is slated to reduce the amount of VRAM used by the title, letting more lower-end hardware access the title and run it better. Since these changes would require a complete redownload of the game anyway, Sidetrack says it has revamped "the game's packaging and bundling system." This should reduce the installation size from 86GB to 32GB. "So, now it's time to finally move the game to your SSDs," added the studio. The Payday 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update is entering open beta on June 30 for Steam users. No console release plans were announced today. Sidetrack Games says it has been working on this complete rewrite of the codebase for the last nine months. While these changes should break most mods, the studio encouraged modders to use the beta period to repair their creations with support from the development team.
